Jennifer Little from Morrow Bay California flew in this morning and will drive home with both of her new girls.

About Lady Rainbow Glitter Sparkles:
We got an email from the shelter here in Collin County a few days ago about this girl that was picked up as a stray. She had a microchip but unfortunately it was a dead end and nobody so far has come to claim her. They asked if we could please tag her and take her in if no family stepped up which we did.
Our volunteer, Karla, went to pick her up but she need to be transported to the ER, because she’s very sick with an upper respiratory infection and we were told the both of her ears are just absolutely horrible with infections that have caused her ears to close. They said that she will most likely need the TECA procedure on both of her ears. If you don’t know what this is let me tell you is is very significant surgery.
TECA essentially involves the removal of the diseased and infected ear canal while leaving the hearing organ itself (the inner ear) in place. The term TECA is an abbreviation for Total Ear Canal Ablation. This surgery involves the complete removal of the ear canal and tympanic bulla (middle ear), leaving only the ear flap (pinna) remaining.
We will have Dr. Reno look at her first in a few days and I’m sure we will consult with dermatology to see if there is any way we can try and treat this without this very big surgery but I don’t know if that will work. She’s been given medication to go home with while we get her healthy from her upper respiratory infection and come up with a plan for her ears. This surgery is very, very expensive and generally runs about $5,000 per ear so I know for sure that we will have to have a fund raiser for her if this is what we discover we need to do.
She’s on her way to stay with foster mom Millie for now while we figure all of this out.
I don’t have a name for the very first rescue of 2019 but I thought it might be nice to let the village kick around suggestions.
