Millie has once again successfully fostered and sent her donkeys off to their forever lives, yesterday she said goodbye to Bernice and Birdie.
Birdee and Bernice have been adopted by Toni and Kevin Cavasos of Granbury, TX. Toni and Kevin came out a few weeks ago to meet and get to know them. Bernice was easily won over because she loves everyone but Birdee took a little more time. Kevin was really patient with her and gave her all the time she needed. I do believe he won her over too. They have a farm with 37 acres, a 12 yr old Dachshund, a 30 yr Qtr horse named Gussie and 3 cows. They also have a really cool old barn, shade trees and a pond. Plus Toni and Kevin have 2 kids and 5 grandchildren that love to visit. I think these two are going to love it there.
They already have new names picked out.. Birdee will now be Mabel and Bernice will be Coco.
I can’t wait to see Mabel and Coco on the Happy Tails page.. I really want to watch this baby girl grow up!
We always let Millie call the shots on her donkey rescues and what she chooses. She’s the caretaker and we are just here to support her decisions. This time she has chosen two Jennie’s that were scheduled for slaughter on 3/21. This little baby girl is only a week old.

UPDATE 3/21/2022
Millie updating us on the newest donkeys:
“We had a couple scary days because it did not look like momma had enough milk but I’m happy to say with some hay, grain, a little alfalfa, and lots of fresh water mom is starting to produce more milk. Dr Spenser was out and checked out mom and baby and has given me some gel to add to her grain to help her produce that milk. He feels her lost of hair is from stress and rubbing her neck and tail. Baby is thin but looks good. He’ll be back in two weeks to go forward with the vetting.
Right now both are decompressing and getting to know me and our area. I’m not putting any pressure on them other than to take a walk down to the corral.
These two had a scary start, but they’ve been given a chance at a new beginning.”
