Latest Update:
We are happy to announce the adoption of Burton, he has been out on a trial with his new family for a few weeks. It was an unusual adoption in a home with chickens outside that he would need to not want to kill. We are thrilled to hear that he is doing fantastic, he could not care less about those chickens and co-exists very well. He loves his new dad and follows him everywhere. Burton like most shepherds bonds very quickly and this time was no different. Let me tell you a little about his new family. He will be living in Azle, TX with Katie and Dan Parker. When they came to meet him Burton was thrilled to to say hello to them, he literally bolted through the door wagging his tail going back and forth giving them kisses
His new name will be Max with his 2 fur sisters Bailey the Lab mix and Sadie the Beagle
Oh how we love this for him.
About Burton:
- Burton was a local stray brought in by a good Samaritan who saved him from the side of the road just miles from DRR. He was covered in burrs and fleas, and was in terrible shape. Burton quickly bonded to us here at the sanctuary, and after no one came forward to claim him, he was moved to the Ranch for further socialization. He is more beautiful in person than his photos do him justice, and he is going to turn out to be a gorgeous dog once he is totally healthy. Burton’s #1 priority is being close to his people, and I would consider him to be a Velcro dog. He is happy as a clam just to hang out on a bed or a blanket next to you while you work, or follow you to the kitchen to “help” make dinner. He would be perfect for a single person or a family, as he’s got plenty of devotion to go around!
