When we have a dog returned to us no matter the reason it hurts all of our hearts because it’s just not something we ever want to happen.
When Care Bear came back the volunteers and Laura were all ready eyed but it turns out that wouldn’t last long. You see a couple of days prior to her being returned we received a pretty fabulous application for an English Bulldog. Laura reached out to her the minute Care Bear came back, she had originally applied for Popcorn and when she was told the story about Care Bear returning and what she had been through she immediately said Care Bear is the dog for me and I’m coming for her as fast as I can.
Susan Rafferty from Denver Colorado has fostered over 100 dogs in her home and is very experienced with dogs that have come from puppy mills as her current Frenchie was a mill mama. She also has a Great Dane who came to her after a very rough life and she has worked to get him comfortable and happy.
She immediately booked a flight and rented a car and today she came to meet her new girl.
She saw her and said that she was perfect! Her frenchie has the same coloring and Care Bear couldn’t get enough of her lap.
She doesn’t have a name but says they tend to name their dogs after old lady names, Beatrice, Dorothy (but call her Dot), etc. they are spending the night in Amarillo and she brought toys and another blanket for her. Susan has already signed up for the happy tails page. So it just goes to show you when one door closes in fact a new one opens and for Care Bear that door flew open right away and off she goes into the sunset headed for Denver.
About Care Bear:
She’s a hefty girl who has several c-section scars, including one cutting her side open to deliver pups. All she wants is someone to hold her and she just stands up and clutches your leg until you give her a hug.
Born on 1/24/14
Formerly # 281
Welcome to Dog Ranch Rescue Care Bear..
We were told this girl could be pregnant when we secured her at the puppy mill auction but nope, not one single baby in Care Bear, today’s ultrasound has confirmed.
This sweet girl will be going to stay with all of the volunteers at the sanctuary on Wednesday. She’s an absolute sweetheart and so good with other dogs. She will be scheduled for a spay and a dental and once thats all finished she will be ready to fill someone’s heart up with love.
