Latest Update:
We are always, always so grateful for our hard to adopt, special needs rescues to find their home, both Chomper and Cera fall in that category, and we find an adopter that is undeterred with adopting a dog that “may” leak urine, or a dog that has a one eye, and a tilted head you can bet your sweet booty that that makes us very happy.
The day is finally here, the last of the “Land Before Time” group has finally found her forever home. Cera has been with the rescue for four months, trying to get her healthy and unfortunately had to remove one of her eyes. This little firecracker has a short ride over to McKinney, TX with the Horton family. There she will get to live with two canine brothers, who come board at the ranch with us, Oakley the DDB and Ziggy the boxer. She will also have two kiddos and a feline sibling to get to hang out with. We’ve really enjoyed getting to watch this girl grow into her (very large) personality. Happy life, spunky Cera, we hope to see you and your adventures on the Happy Tails page soon!
About Cera:
She came to us with a head tilt to the right, her right eye has a horrible corneal ulcer and she has dry eye in that eye. We began the processor vetting Cera, we started with the eye specialists to determine if we could save her eye. Then she was sent to dermatology where they sent her off for an MRI that showed what we assumed was the problem. Cera had double inner ear and middle ear infections causing her ear drums to fill with pus throwing off her head, causing facial paralysis, the inability to blink her right eye and there fore with no tears or blinking in that eye it could not survive by the constant dryness. We sent her in to surgery for a double myringotomy where they cut open both ear drums and drain the pus, clean it all out and insert lots of medicine. We could not save her eye and it has been removed. Her head tilt has improved significantly and nobody knows if that will continue or if it will stay slightly tilted.
Cera is a hilarious nut, she is silly and loves to play, she can be possessive with toys but she is at the ranch mainstreamed with all dogs and has no issues with any of them as we don’t allow toys at the ranch.
