Latest Update:

It didn’t take but a few days for Chewbacca aka Charlie to find himself a new family. Terry Mickla and Carol Porter have adopted from Dog Ranch Rescue 8 times and let me tell you this little man has hit the family jackpot. He will have himself a little gaggle of Yorkies to call his siblings, Terry and Carol will stay in touch with Charlies previous mom which we are sure will bring her so much comfort, they will also keep his name as Charlie and we feel like he couldn’t be a luckier dog right now.
Happy life everyone.
We were asked once again if we could take in two breeder releases from the same breeder that brought us Snap, Crackle and Pop. We said we would be happy to help. We had no idea what dogs we would get but Cassandra went and picked them up yesterday.
This one is a male Silky. He is very friendly with our volunteers and so happy to be free from mill life.
Welcome to Dog Ranch Rescue Chewbacca.
UPDATE 11/5/2021
Sometimes a dog gets returned because the owner is ill and just can’t do right by the dog. Chewbacca was returned a couple of days ago with his mom filled with tears, she knew it was what she had to do but that certainly doesn’t make it easy.
We asked her if it was okay if we just shared with the village what she wrote to us. I think it might help people to understand if it comes straight from Chewbacca’s mom. she said that would be just fine so here is what she wrote to us:
“Hi Laura,
I have been dreading everything in my heart having to make this text.
I know how busy you are and that y’all just did another rescue.
My heart is broken into pieces. I love Charley aka Chewbacca as I have loved my human children.
He’s the most loving fur baby I’ve ever had , and I’ve had quite a few.
I am suffering from a neurological disease that has no cure.
They call it the suicide disease because sometimes the pain is so great that there isn’t any relief.
I have been dealing with this for 6 years and use prayer and my faith to get through it.
I suppose I should get to the point.
I do well, better than most because I refuse to give into this plus I have fur babies that depend on me.
I can have relapses with extreme pain and weakness.
Sometimes I’m in bed for a week or more.
Charley has become quite the escape artist, not from fence but the door. He’s very quick and for being so small he is very strong and has knocked me over.
The problem with this is that with my condition, any new injury stays.
While in bed snuggling, when I have to spend some time because of my condition, Charley has been marking me in bed as if to say get up mama.
I have to choose the hardest decision and that is to bring my precious Charley back.
You have no idea how this is killing me.
He is my little boy and how do you give up your child.
This has gone on for about three months and is getting worse.
If it weren’t for my health condition, I would be able to correct it.
Let me know when I can return him. I’ll have to have someone drive me because I’ll never survive giving him up on my own.
Please share this info about him for the new family that will take him home:
Chewy:
Thank you
! He’s got to go to the perfect home. He so loving.

Also before I forget, he’s not happy about fireworks or gun fire.
He does well if you just hold him. It takes about 5 minutes for him to relax. He doesn’t do the typical trembling but does require holding.
He’s a climber LOL, if he doesn’t get picked up during storms he will climb your body.
He needs his snuggle time at night and falls asleep in your arms . He doesn’t bite but when playing he will suck your hands.
He loves to rub his head and neck on yours.
He’s doing zoomies . He’s a complete little love bug. He only has 4 teeth.
He loves kids!!!!! My great nieces are 9 and 10 and he loves them and will snuggle with them all day.
He knows no strangers.
He is good for groomer and will sit for you while you groom him as well. I suggest using a no tangle brush at least every other day.
You can also run your hands through his hair at night and that does just as good as a brush.
I take him to groomer every 6 weeks.
But I also take him to get nails done once in between grooming.
If I can think of anything else I’ll send it to you so you have it for reference”
So with that sad news Chewbacca is here at the sanctuary and ready for adoption.
