Latest Update:
If I said doing this adoption didn’t hurt a little bit I would be lying. When you work with a dog like Endora who has never had people who loved her or cared about her you quickly see how much they have grown attached to you when you introduce her to new people. She was so afraid to meet her family but I know she will be okay and is in great hands.
Endora is going to live in Riverview, Florida with Merideth & Charles Van Auken. Endora will have two other dogs in her home, a yellow lab named Jia and a Black Mouth Cur named Cooper. Her new mom works in a dog friendly office and Endora will get to go to work with her. She has owned two Bordeaux’s in the past and lost one to bone cancer and another to complications from seizures so she is well versed with the breed.
She has a long road trip ahead of her to bond with her mom and her sister and she gave a little nervous tail wag as she went out the door. I look forward to seeing her smile and not be nervous and I know it will be soon. They are unsure of what her name will be so I will stay tuned for that as well.
Breathe easy big girl it’s all going to be okay 💞
About Endora:
This big girl with her precious teeth makes me smile. This breeder says she is selling out of this breed and sold off her remaining ones. She just had a litter on 8/26/19 so she isn’t even 2 years old and already had a litter and weaned it.
She was born 11/14/17
Formerly # 76
Welcome to Dog Ranch Rescue, Endora!
UPDATE:
Let’s talk about Endora and who she is and what she needs.
This sweet girl is emaciated just like Godzilla and she will celebrate her second birthday next week and I can’t think of a better gift to her than her freedom and the promise of a new life with a family who loves her dearly.
She is on the small side about 70 pounds but needs to weigh 85 or 90 she is very young and very playful. She has no skills with housebreaking and will require patience just as we would say with any mill dog who has only known pooping and peeing in the cage they lived in.
She is very excited by human touch and literally wiggles out of her shoes with being touched. We handle this differently than the public would and let me explain to you what that looks like. Remember this change for this girl of freedom, regular food, the ability to be in a building that is temperature controlled she is offered clean warm blankets to sleep on and the company of other dogs and humans.
At this point human touch isn’t needed and is far too exciting for her, most people would want to inundate her with affection because she is so starved of it but please remember all of the amenities I’ve listed above ARE affection.
We will take it very slowly for her if she approaches us for affection and we put a hand on her and she wildly jumps all over the place the touch is taken away. We will only give affection to a dog who behaves in a calm and balanced way and she needs time to understand that and believe me she is young and smart and will get there in a very short period of time but for now she stays with us until we are comfortable with her progress.
That doesn’t mean you cannot apply for her, if you feel like she is what you’re looking for please do. We will let you know when she is ready if you’re approved.
