Latest Update:
In a span of about 5 days, Glazed went from a mill, to an auction, rode a bus, and had a baby. She had a whirlwind start to her freedom from churning out puppies in a mill and she handled it beautifully. She is just the sweetest, most loving dog you could ask for.
Today she said goodbye to her days of having puppies and hello to her new family.
Previous adopters, Rose and Robert Myers from The Colony, TX, have patiently waited for Glazed to raise her pup and are ready to bring her home and give her the life she deserves. They lost their Frenchie, Xena (fka Pastry), a few months ago and were ready to open their hearts to another rescue. They will soon be retired and plan to bring Glazed with them everywhere they go. She has a Frenchie sister, named Sheba (fka Ambrosia), at home who will be happy to have a new sister and will show her the ropes.
They haven’t decided on a name yet, but it will go with the warrior princess theme, which is so fitting for this princess. We will look out for her new name on the Happy Tails page.
Happy life, sweet girl!
As I wrote these posts out I always go back and check the catalog for any information they choose to put in there. Then I saw that this girl has been AI’d. What that means is she has been artificially inseminated. It doesn’t give us any date but we will be looking to see if she is pregnant with Frenchie pups. I don’t have a plan for her yet if she is pregnant but you can rest assured we will figure something out.
She was born on 7/3/17

UPDATE 6/15/2021
Hi guys! Glazed checking in with my little Munchkin. I’m a super sweet girl. I’m cat tested, dog tested, and mother approved.
Things I like:
I love people and enjoy snuggling when I’m not doing the mommy thing.
I like to give foster mom a heart attack by jumping out of my whelping pen.
Then I like to get her really good and make her play hide and seek with Munchkin!
What I don’t like: I’m funny about stainless bowls. I will drink from them but if the bowl is too big or low in water, I look at it funny and won’t go near it.
My little Munchkin is trying to gain weight. It is fluctuating but her last weigh in came in at 10.1 oz. I don’t have a ton of milk but I’m working on that. We have a lot of trial and error happening and we are making little improvements as we go. She’s a strong little girl and moves around quite a lot.
I am so grateful that I was rescued before this little baby came along!
UPDATE 6/11/2021
Lot’s of hard work is happening with Delzy caring for this new mama Glazed and her single pup. Not much milk coming from mama so Jenn is counseling and we are hoping to try and help her milk production which is hard with just one pups, supply and demand is how it goes and sadly one pup doesn’t have a lot of demand. Munchkin may have to be bottle fed we just don’t know yet and we are still trying but I thought you would like an update.
UPDATE 6/9/2021
It’s always a little more difficult for mama dogs to take good care of their babies when they have had a c section. They go to sleep and wake up and someone says hey here’s your baby now be a good mother and take care of it. Patience and sitting with her to nurse her baby is what it takes and Delzy is taking very good care of her. Glazed doesn’t have a lot of milk and with only one pup making demands it’s a challenge for milk production. Delzy is keeping a close eye on Munchkins weight and bottle feeding if it’s necessary.
A surprise little baby indeed not just for mama but for all of us.
UPDATE 6/8/2021
Glazed’s beautiful little blue girl who knocked our socks off with being unexpected was born at 12:45 weighing 11 ounces. I thought about naming her surprise but we needed a donut name so we shall proudly call her Munchkin.
Mama is doing well. Yes, she was spayed after the c-section,. She only has a little bit of milk and that’s always problematic for a mama with a singleton pup. Dr. Reno gave her a shot of oxytocin to try and help bring her milk in and Delzy is very well prepared for offering the baby a bottle as well. A huge thank you to Dr. Reno for running in the office on her day off to do a c-section to bring this baby girl into the world.
UPDATE 6/8/2021
A little glimpse into our last 24 hours so you can live a day in the life of volunteers for Dog Ranch Rescue.
Sunday afternoon all of the newcomers arrive at the sanctuary. We had very few volunteers who could come to help so washing all of the dogs was my job upon arrival. This girl right here we saw it said in the catalog that she had been AI’d. We see that all the time and usually it amounts to nothing. As I washed her the other volunteers found a sticky note in her envelope that said she was AI’d on 4/7 which means if she was actually pregnant she would be due tomorrow. She did not look pregnant but we sent her off to Dr. Reno yesterday morning and with the snap of an x-ray sure enough she’s got one pup in there, that is ready to be born very soon.
Now you all know that maternity manor is not available. We still have to wait for Clorets and Orbit to depart her home and then another deep clean to feel that distemper has left the home is what we have to do.
Karla just moved her litter of Extra’s pups to Millie, and now has Mildred at home and we are still waiting out a couple of weeks of distemper fear with the baby bears so
we cannot have newborn pups at Karla’s. Christi who had Dubble bubble’s litter that has since moved to Millie is out of town and unable to help.
One of our team captains Delzy stepped up and said I will foster her and take her home and she did that last night. Here’s the problem, Glazed panted and dug in the blankets the whole way to Delzy’s house, this is nesting behavior and the worry was that she is in labor.
We told Delzy to turn around and drive to the ER which she did and they planned on taking her to surgery last night for a c-section. Glazed calmed down and stopped nesting, and they decided to hold off.
Delzy went and picked her up again this morning and got her home and once again she began non stop panting and tearing at her blankets. Back to a team consult with Dr. Reno who is supposed to be off today and she said tell Delzy to bring her to me and I’ll go into the clinic. She arrived just a bit ago, and the pup has moved down in the canal from yesterday, she has a discharge and she is clearly nesting. The pups skeleton doesn’t show any toes so it appears to be a little early but we have to weigh the risks. Send her back to Delzy who is inexperienced and 30 minutes away from Dr. Reno and take a chance that we lose this pup while her mama tries to deliver it or we take the pup now.
We have opted for taking her to surgery now and deliver the pup.
Send all of your prayers and positive thoughts please…this was a doozy of an event and we are not out of the woods.
