Gretchen has come such a long way since arriving from the Ft Worth shelter, starving and covered in ticks. She needed to rest, gain weight, undergo her spay surgery and finally her heartworm treatment. The entire time she has been patiently waiting for a family to call her own.
Well, today was her special day! Gretchen is headed to Fairview, Texas to the home of Kim and Martin Cross. After a fun family vote, Her new name will be Mabel and she will have a shepherd mix sibling named Cookie waiting at home for her arrival. The family also has 4 barn cats and a few horses she will get to meet as well. Martin said all the family dogs have always slept on their dog beds in their bedroom and Mabel has one waiting for her at home to snuggle in once she arrives.
The family has added the Happy Tails page and will update us on all her new adventures! Happy life sweet girl.
This girl was picked up as a stray in Fort Worth, emaciated, covered in ticks and heart worm positive. The shelter staff say she’s approximately 2 years old not spayed and is a sweet as can be. We have a volunteer who has headed out to pick her up and bring her back to the ISO room at the sanctuary.
