Honey Boo Boo
Breed: French Bulldog
Adoption Date: August 7, 2019
Adopted by: Wes
Can I get the village to gather around for moment, we need to discuss Honey Boo Boo. As I told you she has been staying with Wes for the past few weeks while Trish was on vacation. During that time he has learned lots of things about her behavior, some of it good and some of it not so good.
Wes texted us in our group text to give us some insight to what he has been seeing and I’ll share that with you:
“I’m just not sure what to do with Honey Boo Boo…
I think Honey Boo Boo has a vision or neurological impairment – the other night she’s asleep on the bed next to me, and twice I wake up to find her staring at the hallway or the closet growling and snarling – and then Mr. Cat jumped on the bed out of nowhere – as he does all the time and has done 100 times with her asleep next to me – and she jolts awake and lunges for him – now mind you – she stopped short and never made any contact or anything, and Mr. Cat knows what’s up so he just freezes and waits, ready to throw down, but nothing happens, and I just tap her on the head and talk nice to her and she’s all better again…
I feel so bad for her, cause if she was a bad or mean-spirited dog who was a danger to others I’d just say have a nice day – but she’s never hurt or displayed ill will to anyone or anybody, she just seems “confused”…
And like 6 hours before that ^ happened with Mr. Cat I had HBB in the hallway with me – and Tiny Kittens went running past both of us in “feral” mode cause I woke her up walking by – which happens all the time – and HBB never even looked twice at her…
Then this morning I’m just sitting here chilling with Honey Boo Boo while she’s sleeping and then what does she do? She wakes up all serious out of nowhere and turns to look at the blank bedroom wall and starts growling/snarling at it 😫
She growled at nothing for almost an hour this morning next to me and then she was just so tired…
Most times you just tap her on the noggin and talk to her and she’s sweet as sugar again but I don’t know what she’s doing and what might be wrong with her”
We have discussed her bladder issues, by the way she is going back in next week because she needs to be retested and problems are rising again with her bladder. We have discussed how she behaves in a crate and cannot be in one because she has demonic tendencies in one.
This behavior for her is new and obviously Honey Boo Boo is not a normal dog, and she is not doing normal things…does she have a brain tumor? We don’t know ,but we don’t think we should pursue a home for her, we don’t think its fair for an adoptive family to adopt her with so many question marks but we also think she deserves the best life possible for her. We know that she had an owner in the past that surrendered her to a Pug rescue due to “moving” was that the only reason? we don’t know, all we know is this is what we are seeing..
Wes adores her, Travis adores her and Wes just feels that Honey Boo Boo needs to just stay with him. He’s got no issues dealing with this behavior and he will monitor her on a regular basis for anything else this might turn into.
The rescue will take care of her health and her bladder issues for the rest of her days and Honey Boo Boo will just stay here at the Ranch where she will be loved for who she is regardless of what might or might not be wrong with her.
Welcome to the Ranch Honey Boo Boo, you will not be shuffled any longer, your forever spot is here with us..
About Honey Boo Boo:
Okay, it’s time for me to ask the village to gather round and let’s discuss Honey Boo Boo.
You might recall she was an owner surrender with a very long history of reoccurring hard to treat bladder infections.
This happens sometimes and nobody really knows why but the issue can be ongoing for most of their life and we aren’t sure if Honey Boo Boo will be one of those. Right now we have treated her with some heavy hitting meds and she is doing great.
Honey Boo Boo has gone to stay with Wes while Trish is out of town and by doing that we have some very interesting and very detailed information on exactly who Honey Boo Boo is and what makes her tick and what is a problem for her.
You might remember when she stayed at the Ranch she would guard her den with her bed in it, she would growl and lunge out at dogs coming near it. She would rarely go outside and when she did she would run back in to guard her den and her bed.
It took Wes a little while to figure out what the issue is and he said that Honey Boo Boo is a different dog with no crate in her life. She has some kind of mental issue with being in a crate or a den for that matter, let’s just say an enclosed space. She growls and stresses about protecting that space. When you remove that from her he said she is a happy affectionate, adorable, hilarious sweet girl that makes him laugh every day, and she loves fluffy soft blankets/pillows like on the bed and will root around them and roll upside down like a little piggy wiggy.
If you put her back in a crate she flips a switch and cannot stop resource guarding the area.
He said Honey Boo Boo is a house trained little girl and she should never live with a crate in her home. I asked does she guard her bed if it’s in the family room and he said absolutely not, he also said she has never hurt any dogs or even his cats. Both Wes and Travis cannot stop saying how adorable this girl is but she’s not gotten any applications because we needed to understand what she was doing and why.
Her issue with her bladder and reoccurring infections may be possible, I spoke to Dr. Bronstadt this afternoon and she has finished her medicine so he wants to wait another week and then do another cyst and culture her urine again to see if we are clear or if she needs more antibiotics. Like I said this most likely will be an ongoing problem with her and we need an adoptive family who is willing to recognize this potential issue and not be opposed to keeping her healthy with regular checkups, and cultures for her to make sure she is being taken care of.
Honey Boo boo is 6 years old and deserves a fantastic home of her own, Wes assures you that you will be delighted to own this little character and happy that you did.
My question is are you Honey Boo Boo’s family??
