Latest Update:
What a sick little dog he was just laying in the shelter. Heartworms, hookworms, whipworms, fleas, ticks…his bloodwork was so bad that he nearly needed a transfusion to keep him alive. He was consumed by parasites but we just went to work with the many treatments to kill them all and let him quietly recover in Isolation at the sanctuary and recover he did.
Today was Hooper’s big day. He was adopted by Angie and Amelia Latimer from Plano, Texas.
His new name will be Cooper. He will have two fur sisters: A beagle named Emma and a poodle named Abby. He is in love with his new family and they promise to post updates on the Happy tails page.
Happy life sweet Cooper!!!
This little man is in rough shape, just terrible condition.
Trav’s notes:
Very sick, white gums. Very low energy. Worse condition of the group physically/ medically. The eye is lost but I’m not sure what happened to it. Absolutely infested with fleas and required multiple baths to get them all. The whole bridge of his nose exploded with them.. possible testicular growth. Horrible breath. Covered in unknown grease and has some matting in areas around the mouth, butt and back.. also had about 8 ticks on him.
We will be naming him Mathew Hooper age 50 was a Fort Worth Police Officer, private investigator and worked undercover in Fugitive recovery. Even the fugitives he brought in for justice liked him, he was a good Christian. He passed away the Wednesday before last from COVID he was a wonderful family man, and friend He left behind his wife and 3 young children the youngest is 4. They had only been married 6 years.
We send our condolences to his family.

UPDATE 1/30/2021
We need to find a home for Hooper, he had a home but they backed out at the last minute so Laura is starting over. He has a few quirks, he went to a foster home with a cat and did not do well and was moved, he then came to stay with Wes for a couple of days and his 3 cats and did absolutely nothing with all three cats. We still will avoid a home with a cat. He is now in a home with Christi and her little boy Wyatt and he doesn’t like Christi’s husband at all. We always want to share this kind of info, I might add that it’s not just men because he loves Wes and Travis, he is a very affectionate dog who loves to be held and sleeping in a human bed from his standpoint is like heaven sent.
Hooper has been good with 98% of all dogs but took issue with intact red Dobermans if you can imagine that, he didn’t care for Bronc and he doesn’t care for Country. Like I said he has some quirks… All other dogs there has not been an issue.
All of these things will be considered when Laura looks for his new family…If you would like to apply for Hooper you can do that here on the website.
UPDATE 12/30/2020
Hooper is coming along, we have his blood values getting better each day. This little man was so sick with parasites that he was being eaten alive. Hookworms, Whipworms, ticks, fleas and heartworms. We nearly had to transfuse him and he would not have lived much longer on the streets. He is getting healthier and stronger every day but it will take time to get him to 100%
UPDATE 12/11/2020
Hooper is a sweet little man who is so happy to have been rescued from the valley. Sadly he is a very sick guy with malnourishment, anemia, ehrlichia, whipworms, hookworms, heart worms in his heart and just plain suffering and neglect. He is currently taking a plethora of medication to try and get him healthy.
We will shine him up like a bright new penny and he will never look back.
