Latest Update:
Jeff Goldblum has left the building. what a wonderful mom and dad he has to call his own. Jeff Goldblum is a social special needs dog and they quite honestly just don’t care. Whatever limitations he has they are willing and able to provide him with just what he needs, and they will accept him for being just the best he can be. Which is how it has to work with dogs like him. These adoptive families are rescuing a dog at its truest form.
Jeff will be moving to Rio Rancho, NM with Catherine & Randy Hooper. Randy is retired and will be home with him during the day. Both Randy and Catherine have large dog breed experience and in the past have sought care with a behaviorist when needed. Jeff will enjoy his new home on 10 fenced acres of land as well as other dogs in the home.
His name shall remain as Jeff which is good because he does know it after being with us here for quite some time. Jeffy G. is his name and we couldn’t be more happy for him to get a family of his very own..
Happy life sweet boy ❤️
About Jeff Goldblum:
Let me introduce you to the third owner surrender we have had in the last week, because rescuing never stops no matter what is going on.
He belonged to a young family and he lived in an apartment in Oklahoma and never had any social outlet. They knew that with their work hours and their life they just couldn’t give him what he needed so they reached out to us to help and give him a new life where he can get the help he needs. Living at the Ranch for a while will offer him lots of good social interactions with other dogs and lots of other people.
Wes has named this boy so I’ll just leave it at that. 😂
Welcome to Dog Ranch Rescue Jeff Goldblum…
UPDDATE
I’m going to take a moment to talk to everyone about these boys Woodstock and Jeff Goldblum. Both of these boys are around a year old, owner surrenders and both of them suffer from the same thing. When raising a Bordeaux its very important to socialize them as much as possible. New people, new dogs, new places, new sounds, new things.
That hasn’t happened for these boys and they suffer because of it. Both of them are very shy with people, they will not approach you readily. We have them at the point now where they will stop for us and we can then go and get them to put them in a den to eat and to sleep.
Funny thing is when you have them confined in a den they are very sweet and gentle but wide open spaces worry them as you try and catch them. Woodstock is better than Jeff but I would consider both of them social special needs dogs like we have had in the past with Thelma, Candy Corn and Witchy Poo. We have taken them as far as we can in the setting they live in at the Ranch. Normal packs of dogs shave helped them tremendously to mimic their behavior and learn to trust. What they need now we cannot offer them at the Ranch, they need their own home, their own person in a small space like a home, consistent reassurance, and consistent trust with their human.
We are ready to now start and look for a special home for both of these boys, they are excellent with other dogs very submissive males. They are eating well but they do want raw added to their kibble in order to get them to eat. They came too thin and we have steadily been getting weight on them.
What I’m looking for is a home that is willing to dedicate the time and work needed to help get them as socially healthy as possible. They need walks on a leash, they need to know a routine in their home and living with other dogs would be very beneficial for them. Woodstock loves water very much and is in the pond every day, dipping his head and splashing about. Jeff Goldblum couldn’t care less about water and as I said is a little more shy than Woodstock.
If you think you might be a good match for either of these boys applications can be found at dogranchrescue.com
