I’m so happy for this little boy but sometimes it just gives you a little knot in your heart to say goodbye.
My little red headed orangutan monkey boy Jerry met his forever family today and is off on his new adventure with the Wilson family from Traverse City, Michigan. They flew into DFW and will take a road trip home with their new boy. They are undecided on his name, maybe it will stay Jerry maybe it will be Phoenix, only time will tell. They loved him and his sweet soul when they met him and off he went. He did break my heart just a little as I assumed he would do, he walked out with them on his leash but when he got to the middle of the parking lot he froze, he looked back at the Ranch, seemingly knowing he would not return, his brother Hodgie still there, as was his dad Grant. We have come to love these crazy boys so much and they love us too.
It’s been a long ride with them learning how to live outside of a hoarders house and instead with people who care for you and love you dearly.
I walked out to the parking lot and scooped him up in my arms and carried him to his car where he had blankets and treats and a big stuffed bear to call his own, I gave him a big kiss and said goodbye.
Take care sweet boy, you have a lovely family and you are a very lucky boy.
Happy life Jerr…
Last but not least is the last of the male pups. He will be named Jerry Wilson a man who passed away from covid at the age of 63 in Poway, CA. He was a health technician at one of the local middle schools for 19 years and loved by all. He learned he was going to be a first time grandfather just weeks before he became ill. He was called “the backbone of the school” and provided backpacks, Christmas gifts, lunch and hugs when they were needed. His death devastated not only his family but the school district.
