Everywhere Karen goes, everyone always comments on how sweet and perfect she is. Her foster family even said she is a Mary Poppins dog, practically perfect in every way! This Angel bear has waited a little bit to be able to call a family her own. She needed to get through eye surgery, spay and finally heartworm treatment. All that is behind her, and now she is ready for the next chapter in her life to begin.
Nicole and Jonathan Kramer from Richardson, Texas have been previous adopters of Bridgy Bear (Bridget), Meyer (Mayer) and the one and only whining bear himself Mort (Bernie). Bridgy Bear and Meyer have crossed the rainbow bridge leaving Mort to spend his days crying for attention, but now he has a new sister to play with and will do a fantastic job showing her the ropes of her new home.
Karen will now be known as Idabel and they will call her Ida. Nicole and Jonathan have been waiting patiently for Ida to be ready for them to adopt her. They just got back from a short Anniversary trip and were thrilled to learn she was ready for her Gotcha day! Ida is just an easy girl and as soon as she made it through the door, she felt the love and comfort of her new home and curled up on the cool floor and took a nap.
The family posts regularly on Happy Tails and we cannot wait to see the adventures of Idabel and Mort on the page!
We picked up two girls as strays last week in Richardson, Texas. We’ve had them on our radar waiting to see if any owner would come forward, but they never did. The shelter thinks they may be a mother and daughter, both with some pretty big grins with their hilarious teeth. Regina is very thin, Karen is not, but has a very sore eye. It looks like both of them will need corrective eye surgery. I have no idea of what their health issues will be beyond what I can see with my own eyes, but Travis and Emma went to the shelter today to pick them up and said they are both very silly sweet girls who have lots of love to give.
Welcome to Dog Ranch Rescue Karen
UPDATE 8/12/2022
Karen has gone to stay with foster mom Christi while we get her healthy with eye surgery and and her spay and next up HW treatment because it literally feels like every single Bordeaux we have in the rescue needs all of the above.
“Karen here!!! I had an overnight at this house and then my eyes got worked on. I went back to the Sanctuary with the amazing volunteers but then this lady took me for a ride and I was back in this home again (she said she just kept thinking about me with my little cone not wanting to eat and was sad)…
Thankfully, I just go with the flow and have made this my home for now. I love love love people. I even love the puppy that lives here and the little pug is kind to me and we share bones.
I love playing fetch and really enjoy watching the dad and little boy play ball with each other. I so want to jump in the pool but the lady here says not until my eyes are healed. I also still love the sand in the backyard but again, this lady is so bossy and says “no sand in your eyes, Kaaaarrrrreeeeennnnn”.

Off I go to take a nap in the office!”
UPDATE 7/25/2022
For the very first time since Karen has been with us, her sore eye has finally opened up and is feeling better. She’s scheduled for surgery next week to fix her eye lids so her lashes don’t scratch her eyes anymore causing these painful ulcers.
UPDATE 7/18/2022
Karen has a very painful eye and we called veterinary eye institute to have her seen on Friday. She has very bad entropian and her lashes have scratched her eye so badly that she has a painful ulcer. They placed a contact lens on her eye and gave us pain meds. She cannot have surgery for a little while because she’s sick with URI and in ISO with multiple other dogs that are sick with a cold too.
We will get her eye surgery done just as soon as we can and hope to try and keep her as comfortable in the meantime.
