Latest Update:

Way back in August during hurricane Harvey we were busy rescuing some dogs down in south Texas. We were told about this young Doberman that someone saw her owners open up the back gate, push her out and slam it shut. She was on the streets in an area that was just about as bad as it gets for stray dogs.

She was taken in by some good samaritans and we got her up to us as soon as we could. She had no social graces, snapping at other dogs and fearful of each and every one of them. She was heart worm positive and had a very deformed toe. It took us months to rehab her health and Wes took care of her every step of the way, she learned how to be a pet, she learned how to behave, she learned how to have dogs be your friends, and she loved romping with the Gotham Girls. She had to spend so much time in confinement, a month for HW recovery, and another month for this toe removal that was so very hard to clear up.

She was adopted last week by Marnie and Christopher Suttie from Mansfield Texas. They asked if they could take her home for a trial and that’s just what they did. When they said yes, she is home we asked for an adoption pic and this is what they sent us. I do believe it speaks volumes for what Katie’s life now is. She will never be pushed out the gate by her new family and instead she enjoys lots of this.

Happy life Katie, you’ve finally got everything you deserve.

About Katie:

We worked on rescuing this sweetheart from the Valley in south Texas for over a week before our amazing volunteer transporters could work out her trip to DRR. According to Travis who is fostering her, she is sweet as can be with a soft and gentle energy. She’s a bit shy and still transitioning to this new place but she will be ready to be adopted soon.

She will be named Katie in honor of Katie Costen who jumped in a car with literally no notice to retrieve her and four other dogs needing rescue from south Texas.

We are so happy to have you with us, Katie!
