Kay

Timid and scared Kay Elder is in a quiet and patient atmosphere where she can learn to trust at her own pace. Enter Jim and Terri Calloway of Norman, Oklahoma. They adopted a French bulldog foster of mine (Crunch) about 5 years ago and reached out a few months ago looking for a friend for Crunch. I quickly told them to look on the LSDR page and they saw sweet Kay Elder. Having had a had a puppy mill Frenchie named Josephine when they adopted Crunch, they are familiar with these special survivors.

I met the Calloways with Kay a few days before Christmas and she has already initiated play with Crunch, will shake his little stuffed fish toys and even accepted a treat from Terri’s hand. She’s still very hesitant to approach people and scurries away when people stand up, but she will get there.

Patience and love is what Kay needs and she will certainly get it. Her new name will be Roxie and I can hardly wait to see what she becomes!!

She was born on 4/21/19 so she is only 1.5 years old.

We will name her after an 82 year old mom that was placed into a nursing home before the world fell apart. She is a retired registered nurse who I know would be on the front lines if she were able. She loved being a nurse. I have not seen her since early March. No visitors can go in and for a while the residents were confined to their rooms. I can’t even bring her her favorite coffee as they don’t want anything brought into the home. I have only been able to talk to her on the phone just a hand full of times. November 6th was her birthday. For the first time ever I was not able to get ahold of her on the phone to wish her a happy birthday. I miss my mom. Her name is Kay Eder.
