Latest Update:
This is going to be along post about the adoption of Mr. Peepers, it took us a very, very long time to get to today so the post will be long as well.
We want to send a huge thank you out to Francisco Aileen Caceres Palacios and their entire family for fostering Mr. Peepers for 6 months and nursing him back to life.
Our volunteer Willis Smith drove down to Houston on January 28th to pick him up from the shelter where he was placed after being found in an abandoned home. She literally didn’t know if he would make it back to the Emergency Hospital before dying. Well, he was a fighter and he did make it, and after being hospitalized for a couple of weeks he then went to live with Francisco and Aileen and they took over his care.
Months and months of care and trips to Dr. D to heal his skin infection, his emaciated body, his neuter, and finally his heart worm treatment.
Through it all he bonded with Aileen even sleeping in her bed and now the time had come for her to hand him off to his forever family.
We know Aileen was shedding so many tears over this because she loves this little man so much.
Thank you Aileen for doing such a fantastic job with him and for being strong enough to let him go after all you have been through with him. We love you and are grateful for all you have done.
His new family now is Susan and Pete Peach from Arlington Tx, they have waited for him to be healthy enough to come home with them for months and months, Mr. Peepers will have 2 siblings that are Dachshunds for him to play with, but most importantly he will be loved forever and ever.
We wish you a very happy life little man, it took us a long time but we’re thankful for all involved in the work they put in to get you to this day.
About Mr. Peepers:Mr. Peepers is a sick little man who was found abandoned in an empty house. He is covered with demodex, is infested with hookworms and has some serious issues that we are dealing with on his bloodwork and his liver values. He remains hospitalized for testing and we will take it one step at a time.
He’s a tiny little man at 5 pounds and is very weak and needs all the nutrition and rest he can get.
