Current Location: Spring Texas
Adoption Date: January 22, 2018
Adopted by: Barbara Woods
Her recovery has been nothing short of amazing. This little Poodle Mix girl who was picked up as a stray covered in filthy mats and her neck ripped wide open. We leapt into action with the help of many and her recovery began. She was hospitalized for quite some time and then released into the care of foster mom Mary who has nurses Naomi back to health. She’s a sweet little girl who just wants a lap to call her own and that’s just what we found for her.
Her new mama is Barbara Woods from Spring Texas, had lost her little dog in May and she just wanted a little dog who wants to be held and keep her company.
Today she went off to her new life with a new name of Abby and they were both tickled pink with one another.
We can’t tell you how happy this rescue makes us, it’s just so heartwarming to see a dog suffer as much as she has and watch her come full circle.
Happy life Abby you will never suffer again
This little miracle girl is a small poodle mix about 20 pounds and about two years old. Naomi has been savagely attacked by a dog, or multiple dogs and has the back of her neck completely ripped apart, she has wounds on her legs, and she has a significant puncture wound in her abdomen as well.
She quite frankly is fortunate to be alive.
Naomi went to surgery once to clean all of the dead tissue away and will more than likely go to surgery again either this weekend or on Monday. Naomi has wet/dry bandages as well but hers are attached with sutures to hold the bandage in place. She will need bandage changes daily for quite some time. Her photos have been graphic and for some they were disturbed, and asked us to not show those. I want to say right now that I won’t ever turn my eye away from the wound that an animal is suffering with, if they have to feel the pain the least we can do is look at it and leap into action to rectify it.
We placed her with foster mom Mary, and she said this little girl is a love. She’s figuring out what makes her the most comfortable, offered to put a sweater on her but she wanted no part of that. She’s simply had too much trauma to her neck and head and she cannot tolerate much in that area.
Mary will be getting her over to her vet ASAP with all of her records in hand to get her started in their care while living in Mary’s home instead of a hospital where she doesn’t have to be afraid anymore and can rest quietly in a peaceful home as opposed to a busy round the clock hospital.
UPDATE on NAOMI (from Mary):
I think it’s time that everyone get to know Naomi for the little dog that she is instead of Naomi the little dog who survived nearly getting killed by another dog or dogs. I asked foster mom Mary to write a little bio telling us all she’s learned after caring for her while she recovers, this from foster mom Mary:
Naomi is a sweet 18 pound poodle that wants a warm lap to sleep on. She is well trained and very courteous even waiting for you to invite her onto your lap before she jumps up. She is house trained and patient when waiting for her food bowl. She walks on a lead well and enjoys outings. She is easily corrected and quiet.
She has been around 3 big dogs and a boisterous Frenchie while she has been with me. She doesn’t mind the others but tends to ignore them. She would probably prefer to be an only dog or in a household with other small dogs. She doesn’t mind cats or children.
Her wounds on her neck are still visible and healing but they look good and shouldn’t effect her life moving forward. She is missing about a quarter of her right ear flap. Once her hair grows out, we hope both the ear and neck will look almost normal.
She is a dream boat!
