Latest Update:
Our so very shy Paula Deen met her new family today. Jessica and Kelly Nagelkirk flew all the way to Texas from Portland OR to come and pick up this sweet girl and drive her all the way home, I think it was love at first sight and Jessica said it felt like Christmas for her.
Patience, understanding and more patience are just what this girl needs to have help coming out of her shell. She’s been in a foster home for several weeks with Sherry working with her and baby steps she‘s made but we honestly feel that she needs to have her forever mom and dad nurture her for the rest of her days. Paula Deen hides when she’s in a room with you, any thing to get under and preferably a crate is what she wants to do.
A little tough love is in order to let her have that sometimes but most of the time she needs to feel the world and be shown that it’s safe. Oddly enough you put a leash on this girl and off she saunters and even leapt straight into the car. Everything is going to be fine.
Paula Deen has a brother at home waiting for him, an American Bulldog who will help her with confidence, right now they are undecided on her name and will let us know on the happy tails page.
Have safe trip and a happy life Paula Deen
About Paula Deen:
When we rescued this girl, number 168, from a mill auction in May, her microchip number didn’t match any of the paperwork that she was sent with. Therefore, we have to guess how old she is. She appears to be around two or three, and she’s a little shy but very sweet. Once she spent a few days at the Ranch with other dogs and understood she was safe where she was loved and given food and a soft bed, she started coming out of her shell.
Welcome to Dog Ranch Rescue, Paula Deen.
