Jeffrey & Paige Smitten applied for Nile, the Doberman, 2 years ago, but life and COVID got in the way. They are ready now, so Paige sent an email to DRR asking to be considered for Sabre. Sabre passed her cat test with Princess, so the Smittens immediately reserved a flight and rental car to come get her.

Sabre will live in Providence, Utah and will have a large fur family with Grace, a senior pied Frenchie that is deaf and a 2-year-old chocolate & tan Frenchie named Skeeter. She will also have a bundle of kitties to keep her company. Her new name could possibly be Lady Bird since Paige is from Sacramento where the film was set.

About Sabre:

This little girl was found as a stray in Oklahoma, completely skin and bones and covered in ticks. Foster mom Trish took care of her and all of her vetting was done by Dr. Roach in Oklahoma. It was time for her to come stay with us in Texas so we pulled a switcher and sent Beenie and Weenie to Trish and brought his girl down to us. Wes handled the transport and he also named this girl, he always wants a them of swords and we say no but we let him have this one.

She is a puppy and is playing nicely with all dogs at the sanctuary, shes only about 30 pounds and has a lot of growing to do to try and catch up on her lack of nutrition for so long.

Sabre is a beautiful young Doberman that was found as a stray in Oklahoma. She was starving, covered in ticks and needed a hero. She stayed at the vet for a few weeks and grew healthy enough to come to us at the sanctuary while we work to find her home. She is doing amazing with her new surroundings and is learning all about how to be around lots of other dogs. Sabre is only 6 months old and loves to snuggle up to humans. The most exciting part of her day is MEALTIME! She will do just about anything for food. Rarely do we get a Doberman puppy in the rescue, so be quick with your applications if this girl has caught your eye!
