Spork

Adopted!
New Name: Inej
Age: Adult
Sex: Female
Breed: Dogue de Bordeaux
Weight: 62 pounds
Current Location: Bartonville, Illinois
Adoption Date: September 23, 2022
Adopted by: The Woods family
Latest Update:

The Woods family are previous adopters of Brennan (now Brekker) and long time DDB owners. They have followed Spork since her first post months ago but thought it was too soon to add another bear to the house after so recently adopting Brekker. Well, this silly girl didn’t take long to win them over and had Katie reaching out to Laura to ask if they could add her to their family. Her new name will be Inej, and the Woods family swung by the sanctuary bright and early to start their drive back to Illinois. We are excited to see what Brekker and Inej get up to on Happy Tails! Congratulations and safe travels 🎉

About Spork:
We were contacted about this girl running as a stray in the town above ours at the ranch. They don’t have animal control up there, so the police department handles strays. They researched us a little bit and knew she would be in good hands while we tried to see if there might be an owner that is looking for her. She is thin, she’s had a litter, she is a little skittish, but she is young and is a sweet girl.

UPDATE 7/30/2022
What a face Spork has. Sadly it’s very, very clear that she used to have a family that loved her but, they don’t any more. Her owners have not claimed her, and they don’t respond to being notified that she’s with us.

We’ll be spaying her very soon and that’s all she needs…with the very big exception of finding a new family for her.

UPDATE 7/21/2022
So here is the update on Spork. She was a stray north of the ranch. Someone picked her up and held her for a week looking for her home with no luck. There is no animal control or shelter up there so the police handle it. The police researched a rescue for this breed and contacted us. She came to us very thin and having had a litter a few months ago. We scanned her for a chip and she does have one and it is registered. We notified the chip company that we had her and they notified the owners and we’ve heard nothing.
All we could learn is that a local vet inserted the chip, Laura called them and they said her history has her having a broken jaw at one point and a metal place was inserted to repair it. They cannot tell us the owners name but they have notified them as well. We cannot know if they moved, if they don’t want her or if they gave her away to someone else. All we know is that nobody is coming forward.
She’s a sweet girl who loves to play hose and has this incredibly cute face while getting a scrub. 😂

We will wait a while longer before we assume she’s not wanted and move on with finding her a new home where she will be..

UPDATE 7/18/2022

Spork is doing well, she does have a microchip and she is registered. She’s been reported as found several days ago but we haven’t heard anything from an owner.
