Latest Update:
We had a very special adoption yesterday that I will close the night with tonight. We have had some very difficult dogs to place over the past few weeks, I’ve shared with you Barkus, Jaxson, and Doris.
Today I will talk to you about Walter, you see his adoption comes with strings, and I will explain what all of that means, off he went to his new life but his future requires lots of help and that is what I am here asking from you as I share his adoption.
Dr. Lange is the surgeon who has examined Walter and what will need to take place is first he needs a CT which is already scheduled, they take that CT and will go about working on a 3D model of his leg and what needs to happen, the surgery is called a radial osteotomy.
I will include the link for information about this surgery. Walter is a young dog and we are hopeful the outcome would be beneficial for him.

All of the costs for Walter from beginning to end will cost the rescue approximately 10,000. The process begins with the CT and the modeling will not be ready for another month after that before surgery will be scheduled. Once Walter has the surgery with the corrections made, the plate in place he will be casted and will need bandage changes every week for 6 to 8 weeks while he recovers.
Now a little bit about his new mama, Stephanie Hunter from Ft. Worth Texas is a previous adopter and was so excited to adopt this big sweet boy.
Walter was super excited to meet his momma, and couldn’t stop giving her kisses. We are so happy to see Walter come full circle from being sick in the shelter, to now going on to his forever home. We are absolutely blessed to have an adopter who not only wanted to adopt a special needs boy like Walter, but she insisted that as his new mama she would be the one to take him all the way through all of his procedures, his surgery, his follow up care and bandage changes.
We have been blessed recently with very special adopters and Stephanie is very much in that category, but we need the help of the village to raise the funds needed to get this leg surgically corrected.
I have made a gofundme for Walter and will pin it to the top of the page, we have a few weeks before surgery and hopefully we can raise the funds he needs.
The link to the gofundme is here:
We will say goodnight, and wish Walter and Stephanie a long happy life together.
About Walter:
Walter found himself in a shelter with nobody claiming him, he clearly is handicapped physically but the good news is it doesn’t slow him down, he moves about quite well in spite of it.
- We should have named him Mr. Personality, but Walter fits, too. This boy is just full of life and runs full speed at everything and anything that might seem fun. Walter’s favorite things are as follows… FOOD! TOYS! FRIENDS! LOVE! He has truly never met a stranger, and sometimes needs gentle guidance with manners, but he is still a puppy, so there’s lots of time to form good habits. Walter excitedly runs inside and takes a lap around the building to get his wiggles out before barreling into his den for a nap. He loves to take a dip in the pool and will bob in the water for his many toys. He does have a congenital deformity of his front legs, but it hasn’t slowed him down at all. He will meet with our Orthopedic Surgeons, and we will take care of whatever he needs before going on to his lucky forever home. You know you want him… come meet him and see for yourself the magic of the Walter. 😊
