Waterfall

Adopted!
New Name: Zoey
Age: Adult
Sex: Female
Breed: Golden Retriever
Weight:
Current Location: Dallas, TX
Adoption Date: April 3, 2022
Adopted by: The Will family
Latest Update:
Once we separated the Golden Retriever sisters, Cove and Waterfall, it allowed us to see who they are on their own. Waterfall has a silly side that has come out at times and other times she is just the little wall flower that is there but chooses not to be a part of all things in a home. We knew the right family was out there, and today the Will family from Dallas came to pick up their special girl.
The family boards their “bestest boy” Milo at the Ranch and were looking to add to their family. Milo is 13 and before the family adopted him as just a young pup, he had a pretty rough start and was frightened of everything so they are very familiar with being patient with a new scared dog in the home. Milo and Waterfall met at the Ranch and we felt he may be what Waterfall needs to further come out of her shell and experience her new life of freedom away from the mill.
She has two kiddos waiting at home to welcome her to the family. They are 6 and 9 years old and they got to name her, so her new name is Zoey!
Since the family currently boards at the Ranch, we hope to see Milo and Zoey enjoying the pond the next time they come and will update us on happy tails!
About Waterfall:
This girl is a little less terrified than her sister and will move a little bit on a leash. She will benefit tremendously from the dogs at the ranch. Nothing will help dogs like this faster than other dogs who are social and normal and will show them what to do. This girl still has milk and just whelped her very last litter. She is also very overweight and will be put on a diet and allowed to get exercise all day long. She and her sister, Cove, were both born on 5/5/2017.

UPDATE 3/15/2022

Waterfall now walks on a leash and we are happy to report that she is down from a hefty 84 pounds to 78 pounds. She’s still got more to lose but she will get there. We will be keeping an eye on her progress to determine when we feel like she is ready for a family to adopt her and continue the work with her.

UPDATE 3/2/2022

We will be separating Waterfall and Cove to two different fosters. They’ve come a long way, but they need to be away from each other to grow any further.

UPDATE 2/28/2022

Progress in baby steps, Waterfall would never take treats from our hands when she first arrived. Today we had a little breakthrough.

UPDATE 2/27/2022

Waterfall has made very good strides in physically moving about around the yard and building with other dogs. She has a long way to go with humans and feel it would be best to separate her from her sister Cove, but we really don’t have a place for them to go with the sanctuary closed and fosters very difficult to find.

UPDATE 2/14/2022

It was very interesting and encouraging to see Waterfall come out of her scared shell today. Her sister Cove went to the vet this morning and right away Waterfall started doing normal dog things, exploring, interacting with dogs, and she even thought about approaching me a little bit when I put my hand out for her!
