About Angora:

1/13/26 Pupdate:

German shepherds are hard enough to place, but when they are psychologically damaged like this girl is it’s next to impossible. This is Angora who is staying with foster mom Ana. Her vet is a farm vet and their approach is different than city vets like we have here. They are practical and avoid charging for things that most of their clients wouldn’t opt for. It doesn’t make them a bad vet, it just makes their mindset different because it is what they are accustomed to. They are taken aback by a rescue that takes care of every little thing a dog presents with while we have them.
They have opted to put Angora on Prozac to see if it might help her, he did mention his concern with her having to transfer from Ana’s house to a new home if we somehow find one, and how that will set her back. We are well aware of this, the setback occurs with most rescues not just the incredibly damaged ones like her.
He made a suggestion of euthanizing her, Ana was afraid we might be put off by that with her vet. I told her on the contrary, we have dealt with all kinds of vets, and they all work in different ways. We take no offense to the suggestion, it’s not what we would do but we understand his perspective. Practical thinking, but not how we work, it may take months and months but we will find that adopter who is willing to take on the challenging dog, the damaged dog. They have a place, we just have to collectively find it.

🌸 Meet Angora – A Gentle Soul Seeking a Patient, Loving Home 🌸

Angora is a 6-year-old German Shepherd (born 10/6/19) with a soft spirit and a quiet strength shaped by her past. Weighing about 65 lbs, she is a beautiful girl who spent the first five years of her life in a puppy mill, receiving little socialization and almost no positive human interaction. Because of this, Angora arrived extremely shy, shut down, and unsure of the world around her.

In her foster home with Ana and Andy, Angora is slowly learning that people can be kind, gentle, and safe. Each small step—accepting a treat, relaxing in the same room, exploring a new space—is a milestone worth celebrating. She is gradually coming out of her shell, but due to her difficult beginnings, Angora will always be a quirky, special-needs dog who requires understanding and patience.

Angora isn’t the dog who rushes to greet you or seeks constant attention, but she is the dog who will quietly observe, learn, and trust at her own pace. With time, consistency, and a calm environment, she is capable of forming deep, meaningful bonds with her people.

She is looking for a home that isn’t in a hurry—one that understands her history, respects her boundaries, and celebrates her progress, no matter how small. A patient adopter who appreciates gentle souls will find Angora to be a deeply rewarding companion.

If you have the heart to help a dog who truly deserves a second chance, Angora is waiting for a safe place to land—and someone special to believe in her. 💛🐾
