Shimmy

Kevin and LeeAnn Branum have a soft spot for the shorter, stockier breeds, and their hearts skipped a beat the moment they saw Shimmy. They had adopted from us before, bringing home Little Man—now Hemi—after Millie’s loving care. Since his adoption in April 2023, Hemi had been the only dog in the home, and the Branums were ready to find him a companion. They just needed the right match: big enough, but not too big, and good with other dogs.

A quick meet & greet sealed the deal, and they scheduled her adoption. Shimmy still needed a dental cleaning and one final check of her bones. While the shelter had concerns about her structure, we discovered she’s simply a typical bully breed girl—strong, sturdy, and perfectly herself.

It sounds like her name will stay Shimmy, and we wouldn’t be surprised if a DNA test is already in the works. Whatever the results, one thing is certain: she’s exactly where she belongs as Hemi, Shimmy, and the Branum family drive off into the sunset together.
