We have contemplated making the decision to change the main yard at the sanctuary to turf for quite some time. The issues that we have stems from mill dogs that seem to be so enamored with putting gravel or rocks in their mouths. We think it comes from them living in cages or concrete runs with nothing to do and once they have free roam they are like toddlers putting everything in their mouths.
We have decided to go forward with making the big main yard turf with a a border of flagstone round the perimeter. It will be beautiful, clean, easy to disinfect, safe and beautiful for photos of dogs that are so important in finding them a good home.
The work begins today and I will share photos with you as they come to me. I know many have concern about turf getting scorching hot, but this is a different blend to improve on that issue. I know that my turf has had a day that was 92 degrees outside so I went out and took off my shoes to test it myself, it was pleasantly warm on my feet. My dogs love sunning and napping on it, and stretching out their Nellie son the warm turf.
I thought I would add the turf in the store if you want to contribute a little bit to the expensive, it will be a tax deduction for you if you opt to help with that.
