Acadia

Adopted!
New Name: Luna
Age: Adult
Sex: Female
Breed: German Shepherd Dog
Weight: 66 pounds
Current Location: Texas
Adoption Date: May 8, 2022
Adopted by: The Akin Family
Latest Update:

The Akin family are clients of the ranch, and when picking up their dog Charlie last week, Victoria asked if she could possibly meet Acadia- since she was at the ranch as well. She fell in love, immediately sent pictures to Les, and the rest is history. The whole family came to meet Acadia this afternoon, and it was decided that she will absolutely be coming home with them. This special girl has gone through the ringer this year. She was owner surrendered to the shelter in January, where she then contracted Distemper and became very very sick. After weeks hospitalized at the ER in isolation, Heart Worm Treatment, and then months in the rescue without a home, Acadia is now finally able to leave this all behind her. She will have two dog brothers and two human sisters, and we simply could not be happier for her. They are still thinking of names, but Lola is a contender, and as the Akin’s take her on her first trip to Hollywood Feed to buy a brand new collar, that is what I will call her. Lola, you have hit your well deserved jackpot. We will see her not only on Happy Tails, but also at the ranch for boarding with her new family. ❤️

About Acadia:
This girl is a beautiful GSD. She is 4 years old and her owners took her to the shelter just a couple of days ago and left her behind. She’s a very nervous girl and I don’t blame her. She was in the loudest room and was totally overwhelmed. We will need to go slow with her, but we feel confident with time that she will feel safe again.

Welcome to Dog Ranch Rescue Acadia

UPDATE 5/1/2022

While Acadia still searches for her new home we decided to move her over to the ranch for some more socialization. She’s doing absolutely fantastic at the ranch as she brought her Shepherd halo with her.😇🥰

UPDATE 4/26/2022

This gorgeous girl keeps falling through cracks, we don’t know why that happens but it does sometimes. Lots of apps that don’t work, or they change their mind, or they just go silent and don’t respond anymore. Acadia has been with us for 4 months, she’s battled through distemper, pneumonia, heart worm treatment and getting spayed and she would really like to be on her way and not live at the sanctuary anymore. She gets along with all dogs at the ranch and would be a good fit for nearly all types of homes. Once again I ask that you share Acadia and hopefully we can find someone who will love this girl and love her very soon.

UPDATE 4/18/2022

I know, I know, you’re beautiful, you’re perfect, you’re healthy, you’re good with other dogs, you’re all ready to be adopted, you’ve waited for a very long time, and yet you have no home.
How on earth is that possible??
Where are the German Shepherd lovers?

Acadia is waiting and ready and wanting to go to a home of her own.

UPDATE 4/11/2022

Attention all GSD lovers this beautiful girl that has gone through hell and back with being so very sick with pneumonia, distemper, sick with heartworms has now come out on the other side and is looking for her forever family. I asked Emma what are her down sides she said she will grumble a little bit when she has a toy and doesn’t want to share, other than that she’s perfect and she’s gorgeous and she needs a family so get in your application and please share her.

This is Acadia

UPDATE 2/8/2022

She * Is * Gorgeous.
I have no idea how a GSD like her ends up in a shelter but she was. She is such a quiet, low key sweet girl and she deserves a ton of interest, a ton of applications and shockingly she has not a single one.
She is now out of the hospital and recovering from pneumonia and of course is in isolation like all of the dogs at the sanctuary, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to talk about her and the others all in isolation with her.
This is Acadia 💖
