Boogie Oogie

A couple of years ago, Karen and Greg suffered the heartbreaking loss of Hubie following surgery for bloat. To say they were devastated doesn’t begin to describe it. Hubie left such a huge hole in their hearts that they simply weren’t ready to think about bringing another dog home.

Sometimes, though, a dog comes along and you just know.

When this group of dogs arrived on Sunday, one adorable little guy came bounding out of his crate. I (Laura) took one look at him, turned to Renee and immediately said, “That is Karen’s dog!” There wasn’t a doubt in my mind. Within seconds, I was sending Karen videos and telling her, “Your puppy just arrived.”

Today, Karen came to meet Boogie Oogie—and just as we hoped, something clicked. The heart that had been broken by losing Hubie was ready to make room for another little soul to love. And this sweet boy was ready for her, too.

He headed home today with his new mom, where he’ll also have a familiar Dog Ranch Rescue family member waiting for him: Hank, the DDB they adopted from us years ago, who is now 9 years old.

These are the moments that make rescue so incredibly special. We never replace the dogs we’ve loved and lost. They each keep their own permanent place in our hearts. But every once in a while, another dog comes along who reminds us that our hearts have an amazing ability to grow—and that there is always room for another love story.

Sweet boy, you have no idea how loved you already are. We wish you the happiest, most wonderful life with your new mom and dad. You found your family, and somehow, we think Hubie may have had a little something to do with it.

He was born on 4/23/26 so fortunately for him, he is an aged out pup.
