Not every dog settles into a home right away, and Brook is one of those girls who will need a little extra time to understand her new world. During her first days in the home (sort of a trial visit), we learned quite a bit about her: she had never lived inside a house, never had toys, had perfected the art of counter surfing, was unsure around men (the only time she let out a bark), knew exactly where the trash cans were, and was even afraid of the grass—think childhood “hot lava” game. But despite all that, she was already beginning her new chapter with a brand‑new name: Roxy.

Paulette McIntosh, our neighbor in Anna, TX, has plenty of Doberman experience—Roxy is her fourth—and she has embraced this transition with patience and heart. She’s already moved things back on her counters, stocked up on toys that Roxy absolutely loves, and is letting Roxy work through the rest at her own pace. And even with all the quirks reported early on, Paulette shared that Roxy is doing very well. And she is doing very well with her new sister Reecie!

We’re so excited for the life Roxy is finally stepping into, and we’re incredibly grateful to Paulette for giving her the safe, loving home she has always deserved.

 

About Brook:

I quietly just grabbed this girl from Dallas Animal services a couple of days ago. It was clear to me how sweet she was just by her photo. She is emaciated and heartworm positive, typically of the neglect of so many dogs in Texas. She is now in isolation at the sanctuary and we will work on getting her healthy and ready for a home.
