Jill and Stephan Scudder of Blue Ridge, TX, originally applied to adopt either Gus or Cashew. But knowing Jill’s heart is happiest with two dogs in the home, we realized Gus wasn’t quite the right match. However, when we paired Nesquik with Cashew—it was a perfect fit!
Since the Scudders also have three cats, we made sure to cat-test both pups. As expected, Nesquik was curious and eager to make friends—maybe a little too eager for Vlad the cat’s comfort, but she respectfully backed off when he gave her a warning. Cashew, on the other hand, was shy and overwhelmed—she avoided eye contact and clearly wanted to be anywhere but near a cat. Still, both girls passed the test in their own way. The whole family stopped by for a M&G last week before both dogs were ready to go to their home.
Jill came back by herself with matching “twinning” halloween shirts to do the actual adoption and they were totally adorable in their new shirts!!! Now with two new Frenchies in the house, she couldn’t be happier!
Nesquik—now named Coco—is loving her zoomies around the furniture, while Cashew is soaking up every moment of her outside time. Best of all, they’re now living just down the road from Dog Ranch Rescue.
Wishing you a lifetime of love and adventure, sweet girls!
About Cashew:
Other Frenchie rescues are struggling as well and to add to the issue of being inundated with our breed, we have never struggle so hard to raise funds, It’s not sustainable, we cannot keep up with the demand of the rescues needed and the lack of funds to care for them. People are struggling, dogs are struggling and what can we do? Ricky and Lorie are working on another raffle for tequila this time, I am working on building an auction for artisan works by village members, I am contemplating building another auction with items donated that are not hand crafted and some of the things I brought back from my moms house to raise funds. It feels like we are going to have to have a fundraiser every couple of months to try and tread water. I don’t see things getting any better for people that are struggling financially either.
With all that being said just today alone we were hit with these 3 and there are more in the wings, owner surrenders and Frenchies in shelters.
This fluffy pied Frenchie was discarded by a breeder along with this chocolate girl, covered in ticks, the fluffy pied has milk, and a nasty oozing infected c-section scar.
Emma drove them both straight to Dr. Renos and then drove off to the shelter to get this third one with his little broken down ears. They said he was grouchy at the shelter, not that I blame him, he was just surrendered to the shelter by his used to be owner, he is a mess.
