Mr. Clark Griswold Came to us from the horrible breading situation in December. Constantly getting attacked by a male mastiff. Then came to us for the hard challenge of placing him in a home. Clark was adopted out to a loving family who had 3 other dogs. We did a multiple hour meet and greet even had professional trainers in the home. A month after Clark’s adoption they came to the difficult decision to return him back to us. Once a dog is returned to us unfortunately our hope for the pup definitely fades a bit.

That’s when Hayley and Connor step in, from Carrolton Tx. With the loss of their sweet chocolate lab early this year. Their dog Kimi was missing something. That something being Mr. Clark Griswold. What did we learn from previous homes ? And what kind of environment does Clark do good in ? Well Clark loves young happy female dogs. And loves a sweet caring owner who’s there to cuddle them. Clark needed the right chance with the right people. Clark and Kimi instantly became best friends and Clark instantly melted his new mamas heart. Sometimes with the job comes trial and error. With that some times it doesn’t always work out. The perfect family is out there and buddy it looks like you found them ! We can’t wait to see you and your new family on happy tails and can’t wait for all the new happy memories

About Clark Griswold:

6/4/25 PUPDATE:

I don’t think I dread anything more with running this rescue than talking about a dog that gets returned. There are so many facets to it and people read into it incorrectly and the dog gets a black mark.
Before I talk about his return, let me talk about his beginning. Clark was rescued from this “backyard breeder” that we have probably rescued close to 20 dogs by now. They all have a few things in common, always loaded with parasites and the vast majority come defensively aggressive with other dogs. They clearly fight through cages with the numerous other dogs there, typically have face wounds, lip wounds from being bitten close up and fighting out of frustration and boredom. It is incredibly common in mill dogs and this person is basic a mill even though it’s a home.
Nearly all of them need time to be alone, time to decompress, and then slowly try and show them how to dog with other dogs that have not come from the same household, with a history. Nearly all of them end up being just fine with other dogs.
Clark is a big dog from this home and what we were told is that she had a big male Cane Corso that would beat the crap out of Clark. Asked us to come get him before he gets killed. Believe me I would love to shut this lady down, but it’s not going to happen as I have explained many times, what is happening there isn’t illegal. Dogs have roof, water and food. There is no other requirement.
Clark reminds me very much of what I dealt with with Levon, so his plight touches my heart. You see Levon came from the mill, literally covered in bite wounds, ears, front legs and face. Levon had PTSD, he could not cope with a dog giving him a perfectly acceptable correction without him assuming the dog was going to beat him up, and a fight ensued. It took me a year for Levon to realize he was safe, and more importantly my dogs learned that he could not cope with a normal correction. Bea corrected him once and he went off on her, both were pulled apart and Bea figured It out rapidly that he had a mental issue and she had to treat him differently. It never happened again but George was dominant and periodically George would send Levon back into that PTSD and he would lash.
Now we move on to Clark, who is a very young boy, he has suffered, and he has mental wounds, and physical wounds. He was adopted out to a home that we hoped would work, it did not. He did great with a couple of dogs, but there was a dominant male that caused Clark to recall his past and a fight would ensue. It just wasn’t going to work and Clark got hurt, and the other dog got hurt. He was returned. We said nothing about the return and Wes took him straight to his house so we could get a real clear understanding of what Clark needs, what Clark reacts to, and what Clark would do best living with.
When Clark was at the ranch he would really love to play with other dogs but he would take issue with some males and then we would have a problem, Clark really disliked Wallace who by the way is about as low of a big male dog as possible, but you have to remember Clark was attacked by a big male Corso many times, so his PTSD sees Wallace as scary, (big male Mastiff) regardless of Wallace doing nothing.
He has been with Wes for a couple of weeks now, plays with Polo, lives with Diggity dog and Duplo and Lego both enjoy his company and love to play zoomies. Not once have we seen anything negative from Clark, he wants to play and will sometimes go overboard, and needs to be told that’s enough, we don’t need his mind to escalate, its best if you keep him at a respectable play level, you don’t want an overly rambunctious dog playing to turn into something where he feels threatened, that is not a good thing.
Wes said Clark is very, very affectionate, he would like nothing more than to just have a hug all day long, would love someone to snuggle with on the couch, and he is a very sweet boy that Wes said would like to live in your skin 😄
It is so damn hard right now to even find one application for a dog, we have 5 Dobermans right now, and finding an application feels like a needle in a haystack. Now you add to that Clark being returned and clearly needing a very specific home, we are opting for no large males in the home, small males, and large and small females he has never had an issue with.
We are hoping, and praying that there is a home for him out there and the village will click that darn share button enough times to find it.

**Meet Clark – Your New Best Friend!**

Clark is a handsome, athletic Doberman with a heart full of love! He’s energetic, playful, and always up for an adventure, whether it’s a game of fetch, a long walk, or wrestling with his buddies. But when playtime is over, he’s the sweetest cuddle buddy you could ask for.

Clark came to us very skinny and unsure, but with lots of care and love, he has flourished into a happy, healthy pup. Now, he’s ready to find his forever home! If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and fun-loving companion, Clark is your guy. Come meet him today!

Remember the breeder that we got so many Frenchies from? Ohtani, Taylor, Lux, Freddy Freeman, all of the Succession dogs, Tom, Logan, Kendall, Roman, Siobhan, Frizzle, Mr. Miyagi, Mr. Kotter, etc. etc. etc…
All of them parasite ridden, rectal prolapse issues, skin infections, head tilts, and lord knows what else.
Somehow she ended up with this dog and she didnt want it anymore, apparently he is being beat up by her Cane Corso, my head spins with what’s going on at her house and no the authorities don’t care, she lives in an unincorporated area and there is no law thats going to protect these dogs. It’s literally as simple as this, the dogs have shelter, and they have food. That’s it guys there is no other protection for dogs, and in this state many times dogs with no shelter get no help as nobody goes out to check on them or worse yet it’s completely unknown.
He is now out of there as Ricky went to go and get him and brought him to the sanctuary, he’s wild and was afraid to go with Ricky, he’s got a gash on his chin and wounds in other places. He will be a work in progress for sure.
