Conchita

Adopted!
New Name: Gigi
Age: Adult
Sex: Female
Breed: Chihuahua
Weight: 5.6 pounds
Current Location: Allen, TX
Adoption Date: June 11, 2021
Adopted by: Gina and Merlin Keown
Latest Update:
This little, old gal has had such a long road…blind in one eye and partial vision in the other, spayed, two surgeries for mammary tumor removals, 14 teeth extracted and two Heartworm treatments. She has been a trooper through it all. As of this last week, she even has a bit more of a pep in her step. She might be a bit grouchy at times, but she’s just a sweet girl underneath it all.
After 5 months, today’s the day that Conchita (aka Chi Chi) is finally well enough to start her new life with one of our wonderful volunteers, Gina Keown and her husband Merlin.
Gina had seen Conchita when she first came into the rescue and she reminded her of her Chihuahua, Princess, that she lost about 4 years ago. When her story came up again about her health struggles, Gina knew she had to apply for her.
Conchita will be living in Allen, TX with her three furry brothers, Chevy, Bentley and Finnley. Her new daddy is retired and Gina has the week off to bond with her and help ease her transition. The Keown’s vacation at times in Branson, MO and they always take their furry kids, so Conchita will get to tag along too.
Gina wanted to choose a name that sounded like Chi Chi since she responds to that. So from here on out, she will be known as Gigi.
We know that Gigi will be forever loved and she will
give plenty of love and kisses back in return. See you on Happy Tails sweet girl!💕
About Conchita:

Welcome to Dog Ranch Rescue Conchita. Ricky will be going to get her near Houston and Karla will be fostering her. 6lbs, 10-12yo, sweet as can be, blind in one eye and suspected glaucoma in the other eye, mammary masses to be removed, trash mouth needing a dental, spay and on top of it all HW+. We were contacted by a veterinarian who teaches at a vet tech school in Houston and they take dogs from Alvin Animal Control and vet them and send them back. The vet could not stand to send her back to the shelter and reached out to us for help. I originally tried to refer them to a Chihuahua rescue and when that didn’t work out the vet reached out to me again this morning and we agreed to take this little lady.

UPDATE 4/4/2021
A little update on Conchita this little old girl has come to us with so many medical issues, so many things to overcome. She is staying with foster mom Karla and she is updating us on how she is today:

“Conchita is recovering from her first surgery. She’s a bit grouchy and rightfully so. She had her spay, mammary surgery on one side and dental with 14 teeth extracted. Her next surgery is April 14, then Heartworm treatment after that. This little old lady is perfectly content snuggling under a blanket and in bed with us at night. She will be a perfect lap companion for someone soon”.💕

UPDATE 1/22/2021

In addition to all of the dogs from the valley that have extensive health issues this little girl Conchita fits in the category as well. We started with the Eye Institute, she is blind in one eye with no ability to rectify it, the other eye she has a small cataract in but they advise to leave it alone. She has a horrible mouth of teeth that need to be addressed, she has masses in her breasts, and she is heartworm positive. Lots of problems in a 5 pound package.
She is over at Karla and Neal’s house trying to figure out how to be a Chihuahua that is large and in charge.
