Latest Update:

Let me tell you a little story, Melissa and Philip Soliz from Frisco Texas adopted a Bordeaux named Edie from us many years ago. She was a special girl, fostered by Travis and she landed in this blessed home. They loved her so much but recently they had to say good by to her. Heartbroken they weren’t ready to adopt again, but they saw the numerous posts about Etta.
They saw, her, they saw her, they saw her, but they just weren’t ready. Now you all know how long we had Etta, thankfully long enough for them to slowly heal and finally Philip said that’s it, we cannot ignore this dog anymore, its time for us to love again. He filled out an application for Etta, Laura called him immediately and the two of them bawled their eyes out on the phone.
It was time for Etta, it was time for them, and the family came today to take this girl home. I have said it before, but when we have a dog that is so hard to place I feel like a broken record posting about the same dog over and over again. I always hope that someone is looking at her, someone is pondering her, and it turns out they were.
The staff took her for walks every day, they played with her, they loved her, and today she took a double walk and this photo was shot of Etta stopping to say so long.
A stray no more, an unwanted mixed breed black dog that has to be the only pet, no more., a dog with no applications no more.
Etta has a family of her own to love and adore her forever….
And this is what its all about, this is the why for what we do…
Good Night Everyone

Desperate times, call for desperate measures. Believe me what I am about to say is something that we seldom if ever will do.
This is Etta, she is a young girl, probably about 10 months to a year. She was roaming as a stray with milk but no babies to be found, emaciated and tired. We took her in knowing she would be a hard placement. Then we got to know her and knew it would be next to impossible to place her.
Here is just a snippet of who she is.
She wants to play, she wants to be social. She hits a threshold of overstimulation VERY quickly and struggles to come back down to a functional level where she can use her brain. Small dogs are a hard no. She’s fine through the fence and even “plays” in that setting- but face to face she’s untrustworthy and gets excited and wants to chomp them. She’s also an attention hog, will act out and be a brat out of jealousy. She is great in a yard by herself and will lounge and play with toys all alone. She loves to go on a walk as we know. She needs someone to help her figure out how to be a functional member of society and not a feral coyote, or ideally she just lives her life as an only dog, able to love her person, love her walks, love her playtime all by herself with a family that loves her.
Doesn’t seem too hard does it?
Wrong…
So here is what we are willing to do, or should I say Ricky Barnes is willing to do. If we can find the perfect home for Etta with no other dogs that we need to worry about if they can get along. A home that will love her, give her lots of affection, lots of good walking and toys, excellent vet references, excellent home video, then Mr. Ricky Barnes will deliver her to you anywhere in the United States.
If that isn’t a hell of an offer I simply don’t know what is. So many times people say she would be perfect for me but its too far and I can’t come get her…
So now is your chance, if she is perfect for you and you are ready to adopt right now, not next month, not in the spring, not anytime in the future other than right now then we would love to look at your application. We will be very scrutinizing obviously this is an incredible offer, it is an offer we are also considering for Smoke, who knew it would be so hard to find a home for a French Bulldog that needs to be the only dog.
Sadly this is what we are facing now, luckily we have Ricky Barnes ready and willing to do this.
Now the big question is, will it even help? will we still just har the sound of crickets with no applications?
We just don’t know but here is the offer and now we wait…
Obviously this post needs about a million shares but we shall see if that happens.
Can you see her?
Can you see her soul?
If so the photo succeeded, we just need people to see the soul of a black dog that is hard to photograph so that you can. We are looking for a home for this girl and we will hope that all of you will share her so we can find that.
7/20/25 Pupdate:
Let me update you on Etta now that she has been seen by the vet. She is esimated to just be a year old, a baby who just had babies which is just awful. She is emaciated, her coat is dry and thin from lack of nutrition but thankfully at this time she tests negative for heartworms, but….let me just say many times a dog this young doesn’t test positive yet, becasue the heartworms haven’t hit full ciruclation in the blodostream to pick up a positive test. She might very well test positive in another 6 months we will just have to see.
She is thrilled to be here, and could not be more appreciative, she is sweet with all people, and sweet with all dogs.
Oh and by the way she loves the pool and says thank you to all of you very much for rescuing her.
7/17/25 Day of Rescue
And in the blink of an eye along comes a dog that is starving to death and skin and bones her locally, I saw her, Laura saw her, Emma saw her and Eva saw her and we said well, she is a black mixed breed dog like Mookie, I am sure she is heart worm positive too, and it will take us months and months to find her a home, but what the hell, we couldn’t help the scruffy but we can help this one so Emma went and picked her up.
She is in rough shape as you can see, she has had pups somewhere, who knows where, skinny, hairless and hungry. She is young with pearl white teeth, most likely had pups with her first heat, which is gross and ridiculous but alas. She will see the vet first thing in the morning. For all of you who donated for vet care for the stuffy we hope you don’t mind if we take it and use it for this girl instead.
