Latest Update:

Fiji was a wild little whirlwind when he first landed in foster care with Trish up in Oklahoma. He and his sister Ingrid (now known as Hazel) had been found as strays, and Trish opened her heart and home to them both. Hazel soon found her forever home, and with her adoption complete, it was time to figure out what came next for Fiji.
Full of energy and personality, Fiji made the trip down to the Ranch to see how he’d do with a big pack of dogs. The verdict? He was a total star! His playful spirit and zest for life won over everyone he met.
Meanwhile, up in Wisconsin, Ellen Purtell had submitted an application for another dog. She’d had pugs in the past and knew her way around a quirky pup. When she saw Fiji’s picture, something clicked—and she reached out to express her interest. But it wasn’t just Ellen who felt the connection. Her best friend, Mary Devine, also sent a heartfelt email on her behalf.
Mary had adopted Mary Escogar (now Lydia) from us just last year, and it was actually Ellen who had first shown her our rescue and encouraged her to adopt. So, in a beautiful full-circle moment, it was now Ellen’s turn.
Fiji—now Ricky—made the journey from a flea-bitten stray without a microchip to a cherished companion with a soft bed, loving arms, and a brand-new name to match his new life.
We are so grateful to Ellen and Mary, two women whose love for dogs and friendship with each other has led to not just one, but two happy endings.
Happy life, Ricky. You deserve every tail wag, every belly rub, and every bit of joy coming your way.
About Fiji:
7/28/25 Pupdate:
We have brought Fiji the Pug down from foster mom Trish, he will now stay at the ranch while we look for applications for him. He appears to be mostly Pug, gets along with all dogs and humans and needs himself a forever home. We are told that he is a very cute boy that gets along well with all of the dogs and is comfortable with them picking him up.  Note: he is a barker, he just wants to get your attention!
6/20/25 UPDATE:

Meet Fiji, the pug, and Ingrid, the Frenchie. They used to be stray, flea-infested, and without a microchip. But now, they’re living the high life at Chez Trish, where they’re learning how to be model citizens. So far, they’re doing fantastically – they love each other, are friendly with the other pets, and even get along with cats. And, as an added bonus, they love going for strolls. More news tomorrow! Take a look at the photos!

A couple of newcomers with us that are up in Oklahoma with foster mom Trish, both strays, both unclaimed, both dog and cat friendly and sweet good dogs. I have added them to the website while we get their vetting done and have them up for adoption.
