⁨Gertie is starting the New Year in her forever home with Keri Allen!
She has been in our care since October 1st, trying to get her health back where it needed to be. If you remember, Gertie was surrendered with Mazie, arriving with terrible skin condition and under weight. Towards the end of the last three months Gertie looks like a totally different dog & is ready to go home.
Keri had put her application in a while before Gertie was back to good health. She waited eagerly while Terrie sent her updates & pictures of her journey at the rescue. Keri is a previous adopter of DRR Beets, who unfortunately had passed from cancer back in August. She is a very loyal foster mom at her local rescue, having fostered over 300 dogs through the years! Knowing that there isn’t much she hasn’t seen we’re positive Gertie is in the best of care. Keri has 2 other dogs, an older Pom-mix & a busy Boston. She really wanted another frenchie running around who‘s able to keep up with her Boston, Lola. Both of them share the sassy & spunky trait which shall make play time interesting. 😂 Gertie will have a bonus mom, Keri’s mother, who shares a back yard with her & helps spoil them when Keri is out.

Gertie has been here way too long and is ready for her new home.  She came to us with horrible skin and tail, but with The Sanctuary’s love and care, she is fully recovered & spayed.  Gertie is an older girl but she loves people and is good with other dogs (as long as toys aren’t involved).
Are you ready to show this older girl how her life should have been for the past 7 years?
_______________________________________________________________________We were asked if we could take these two girls in by a person her locally who had a breeder give them away and not wanted anymore. The lady who took them has been diagnosed with an illness and she can not care for them or get the vetting they need.
Ricky drove over to pick them both up this morning and they are now at the sanctuary and their vet appointments are being scheduled.
Gertie appears to have some serious allergies and was born in 2018 and Maize was born in 2022
Both are supposed to be friendly with other dogs and sweet girls. We will get to work on their health and find them a happily ever after home.
