Troy and Christy Standefer of Flower Mound have adopted several dogs from DRR over the years. Recently, they experienced the heartbreaking loss of two of their beloved pups due to old age and cancer. Their only remaining dog, Hazel (formerly known as Ruth), has been adjusting to life without her companions — but it was clear she wasn’t meant to be an only dog.

Knowing Hazel thrives with a buddy, they brought her to the Sanctuary to meet a few Frenchies in hopes of finding the perfect match. It didn’t take long to see that Ghost was the one. Similar in age to Hazel and a bit on the reserved side, Ghost has a sweet habit of snuggling up with other Frenchies when she’s ready to rest — exactly the kind of gentle comfort Hazel was missing.

Now happily adopted, Ghost has a new name: Petunia — and we think it suits her perfectly. Wishing Petunia a life full of love, cuddles, and cozy naps with her new best friend.
