We sent our very sweet Helen on to her new forever life with Kimberly and Thea and she will live in Quinlan, Texas. Her new brother Roadie came to meet her and say hello too.
Helen is a very sweet girl and they felt she would be perfect for them. Her new name will be Princess and we feel like that will suit her just fine. A very long way from trying to survive on the streets in the valley with dogs biting you and heart worms in your heart. We are happy to have forever changed your life Princess.About Helen:
We were notified about this girl down in the valley that has been attacked by other dogs and has multiple injuries. Clearly this dog was not engaged in a dog fight but was fleeing from them as all of her wounds are at her backside. The shelter cannot offer her the help she needs. We have tagged her and our tag is confirmed, we have reached out to Raquel who is a transporter out of the valley has picked her up and and is getting her to the ER down there first for us, and when she is stable she will bring her up to us here in Anna. We thank you for your assistance Raquel, and this sweet girl thanks you too.
Welcome to Dog Ranch Rescue Helen
Helen spent the night in the ER way down in the valley but has now been picked up by Raquel and is being transported to our ER here to get another look at her. We will make sure she’s okay to come to the sanctuary to recover from all of her dog bites. We found out that of course she is heartworm positive, it’s just commonplace for dogs that come from the valley to be sick with heartworms…such a sad thing that is so easily preventable. to have so many dogs that we rescue suffering from this is just awful and watching Gotti fighting for his life due to something so easily prevented.
Let me update you on Helen as well, she was in the ER in the valley and had a drain put into one of her deep wounds. She arrived at our ER last night and unfortunately she pulled that drain out at some point and ate it. We also discovered that her right side of her heart is enlarged due to heart worms. She is ehrlichia positive which is a tick born illness and she he has hip dysplasia.
They are transferring her to Animal diagnostic Clinic in the morning to address all of her issues and were going to try and get her to vomit up her drain tube to avoid a blockage. We will have to see how to pursue her care with her heart already having enlargement due to the worms living in her heart.
Good grief the heart worms, the heart worms, the heart worms…
Helen has had her full diagnostic exam as well, unfortunately she didn’t fare as well as Sir William has, besides being attacked by other dogs in the valley and puncture wounds all over her back end she is heartworm positive and will need to endure the treatment for it.
We are looking for applications for our DoberHound Princess Ms. Helen. She’s a petite size girl at about 2 yrs old with a soft and calm temperament. A perfect watch dog that will always alert you when something is a miss (or sometimes not🤪) but corrects well when told to calm. Oh yeah, and she smiles, what more do you want ppl?😆
