So we had an adoption for Hermione last week, unfortunately it didn’t work out. The family had a very young German Short Haired Pointer in the home and if you don’t know the breed they can be very high energy. Hermione absolutely wouldn’t tolerate this pup and bit her which is very, very unlike her.

Hermione was returned and Laura was undeterred. A new family was found for her and she was sent off to that home but we waited to announce this adoption to be sure things were working out well.

Her new family is the Warren from Lucas Texas, they had her for a few days and seen us this note:

“Thanks Laura for this amazing little girl.

She’s found her very own safe place in her new house and that’s where we put her bed, between the fireplace and Christmas tree in the living room. She goes there as often as she sees fit. However today she’s staying close to us while we work in our office. She follows Cara everywhere and Cara loves to lead her. They’re quickly becoming best friends. When we walk daily she stays at my left side (as if she’d been trained to do that)… amazing. And she does so from room to room in the house as well. Yet another amazing thing: She’s absolutely house trained. Not once has she had an accident in the house. She still runs from me when I approach her, but eventually cowers… I can’t imagine what horrible thing she expects to happen. I don’t want to know. I want her to forget that. This will be our biggest challenge and we’ll do whatever it takes to get her past it”.

So with that Hermione has found the perfect place and sometimes the second place is the right place. Her new name will be Theia Hermione and we are very happy for the whole family. If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.

About Hermione:

This girl just weaned 4 puppies and was put on the auction block to be sold to another mill owner, that didn’t happen and she is now safe with us.
