Hubba Bubba Finds His Hubba-Licious Forever Home!
Hubba Bubba couldn’t be happier with his new dad and home—he thinks it’s absolutely Hubba-licious! Mike Hendricks of Baton Rouge, LA, a previous adopter, reached out at the end of July, and we knew right away he’d be a perfect match. Turns out, Hubba Bubba agrees!
Mike was heading out on a pre-planned vacation and didn’t want to leave Hubba in a kennel during that time—he wanted to make sure his transition was smooth and loving. So, we marked him as pending and waited for Mike to return. Normally, we aim to place dogs in their new homes within a couple of weeks, but in this case, it was clearly the right decision.
During the wait, Mike received frequent updates and photos—including a snapshot of Hubba’s adoption-day bath. He was smitten from the very beginning! Photos didn’t quite capture just how big and solid Hubba is in person, but Mike was definitely impressed when they finally met.
On adoption day, Hubba was a little shy at first—until the treats came out! Mike even brought donuts as an emergency travel snack. Not long after they took off to his new home, any hesitation from Hubba was gone.
That night, Mike wondered if Hubba might want to sleep on the bed. Hubba answered that question with a confident leap right up, snuggling in without hesitation. A perfect fit!
Mike has decided to rename him Maximus, after the beloved Gladiator movie—fitting for such a strong and sweet snugglebug. According to Mike, “He already has my heart… and he thinks he’s the size of a Frenchie!”
Wishing a lifetime of love and snuggles to Maximus and his new dad. 💙
About Hubba Bubba:

Last week, Emma was at the Dallas shelter picking up Marvin who is now with foster mom Millie. While waiting for Marvin to be brought out, she was stopped in her tracks by this big handsome mastiff. She didn’t know if he was being surrendered, or returned, or adopted- she just knew she had to figure out what he was there for. After collecting Marvin, she went outside and was able to speak to the person who had him. This woman had found him as a stray, and was at the shelter to do her due diligence by getting him in the system as a found dog incase someone happened to be looking for him. She planned to take him home to foster him through his stray hold, that way he was not going to have to stay at the shelter. Emma exchanged contact information with her and said please, PLEASE reach out if anything changes, as Dog Ranch Rescue would love to have him. Today his finder asked if we may be able to take him, so this afternoon Emma has gone to pick up this 135 pound baby boy up for Dog Ranch Rescue. Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life HUBBA BUBBA
