Hugo

Adoptions don’t always unfold in a single day. Sometimes they happen in chapters, and that’s exactly how it went with previous adopters Jill and Stephan Scudder of Blue Ridge, TX. When they first adopted from Dog Ranch Rescue, they couldn’t choose between Nesquik—now Coco—and Cashew. Their personalities were complete opposites: Coco the party girl, Cashew the shy sweetheart. So, in true dog‑lover fashion, they adopted both. Sadly, Cashew became very sick. They knew Coco would be devastated, so they did a meet and greet at the Sanctuary with Coco and Cashew. The dogs they met weren’t ready to leave yet. Sweet Cashew passed soon after, leaving a tender space in their hearts.

More meets were arranged with the Scudders and Coco. This time at Millie’s home with Percy.. Percy and Coco clicked instantly, and the Scudders fell for him just as quickly. Then came another meet and greet at the Sanctuary—this time with Hugo. That meeting went beautifully too. And once again, they loved him.

For true dog people, choosing can be the hardest part. So, just like last time, they asked the question we already knew was coming: “Can we adopt both?”

Of course you can.

Percy’s new name will be Louis—as in Louis Vuitton—and Hugo will stay Hugo as in Hugo Boss. Their home will be filled with designer dogs in the best possible way: Louis, Hugo and Coco. After they arrived home, we got an update that all three were racing around the yard together before collapsing into deep, happy naps. A perfect beginning for this new trio.

Millie will miss you, Louis, and the Sanctuary will miss you, Hugo—but your new lives will be overflowing with love, comfort, and plenty of trouble-making.
