About Independence ( Indie):
I’ll close the night with the loss of Indie. We tried everything we could to save her but it didn’t matter.
The ER doctor called us while we were at the auction and said Indie stood up and stretched a bit and collapsed and died. They tried to bring her back but she was gone. The ER doctor sobbed and so did we. It’s just so very sad, maddening and frustrating to have a young sweet girl who has been so terribly neglected that she ended up dying from Parvo. Foster mom Millie is devastated and we are all just so terribly sad. We tried everything possible but we just could not save her life.
I’m going to say good night with this sad news.
Rest In Peace Indie, you were loved 💕

Here’s the situation in Texas, Dallas Animal Services is at 120% capacity for dogs and 150 % capacity for cats right now. Owner surrenders during the holidays are completely out of control, they want to go out of town to celebrate and don’t have a place for their dog so they march it right into the shelter. Owner surrenders die first, they are put to sleep sometimes within minutes of their arrival at the shelter.
These pups have little chance of surviving this, and we are asking now how many days Dallas can give them. If you know of any other rescues that can help with these pups please share them now. Like I said Dog Ranch Rescue will pay to transport them to any reputable rescue out there and yes, that rescue will be looked at.
The first pup seen here is the one I chose to take home with me in order to save one. It’s a little girl who is one of the pups that has been bitten by the other starving pups. She has cherry eyes so big and so bad that it has to be difficult to even see. I visited with her earlier this afternoon at Dr. Reno’s when I took Baby Girl for a blood draw. She smells horrible, she is covered in filth and infection, she pees nervously when you even look at her and she’s starving.
We are at capacity at the Ranch with the 4th of July and therefore the only way to save her is to take her home with me. I’m already fostering Ash, I have Jessica’s dog Bernice I’m taking care of, and Baby Girl is failing right before my eyes and I’m afraid I’m losing her, but I can at least say we saved one and I will take care of her myself.
She is on her way to the sanctuary now where her feet won’t even touch the ground, I will take her from the volunteers car and straight into the tub where she will be scrubbed clean and then I will take her straight home for me. Dr. Reno says she is anemic, has giardia and needs lots and lots of TLC.
