Jesse James didn’t live up to his infamous name—in the best possible way. Far from a notorious outlaw, this sweet boy was a total love muffin who got along with everyone at the ranch and Sanctuary.

Anthony and Delisa Hargrove of Lubbock, TX, quickly saw through the tough-guy name and fell head over heels for his gentle spirit. During the application process, Anthony listed two dogs he was interested in—something we always appreciate! While we understand that sometimes just one pup captures your heart, listing more than one helps us find the best fit, especially since many of our rescues are so adaptable and would thrive in a variety of loving homes. In this case, it was especially helpful, as we were already working on a placement for the other dog on his list.

Now renamed Thurman, this sweet boy is thriving in his new home and absolutely crushing potty training! While we always remind adopters that our dogs aren’t considered house-trained—since life at the Sanctuary doesn’t mimic a home environment—many of them did come from homes, and it shows.

Thurman’s journey has come full circle: from a home, to a shelter, to the Sanctuary, and now—finally—to his forever family. And this time, we know he’s home for good. The Hargroves are completely smitten, and they’ll make sure it stays that way
