The wait is finally over for Jim Willie—his new life has officially begun!

Brenda Patton, one of our amazing previous adopters, has stepped up once again. She adopted Broly the Dogue de Bordeaux after a six-month journey of recovery for him and his siblings. Now, she’s become a hero once more—this time to another of our long-term rescues.

Jim Willie came to us on February 19th, during a bitterly cold stretch of winter. With no fur to protect him, he endured the elements with nothing but our care (and a few warm shirts) to keep him safe. Fast forward five months, and not only has he started to grow hair, but the weather has turned blazing hot.

Brenda made the trip down from Edmond, OK with Broly to meet Jim Willie. Though she was headed out of town shortly after, she wanted to be sure it was the right match—so we could know, once and for all, if Jim Willie had found his forever home. The answer? A wholehearted YES.

The adoption was set, and Jim Willie is now off to his new life with a new name: Stanley. He’s already surrounded by more love than he’s ever known, and we have no doubt his future will be bright.

5/27/25 PUPDATE:

Jim Willie is your classic German Shepherd full of personality, endlessly vocal, and always ready to bring some spice to your life. This handsome guy is a whirlwind of energy with a heart of gold. He thrives on attention, spins happy circles when he’s excited, and might even rub against you like a cat (we’re not sure he knows he’s a dog).
True to Shepherd form, Jim Willie can get a bit of that “Shepherd brain” in high-energy situations, but with proper guidance and consistency, he settles well. He generally gets along with other dogs and would do well with a buddy who matches his vibe—or who can at least tolerate his dramatic flair.
He’s got a healthy appetite, though we’ll be honest: he’s also very interested in poop. Hey, nobody’s perfect—but his love and loyalty more than make up for that less-than-cute quirk.
Jim Willie is looking for a home that appreciates a dog with opinions, humor, and heart. If you’re ready for a loud, lovable sidekick who keeps life interesting, Jim Willie is your guy!

What have we learned about Jim Willy since arriving from the shelter.

He is quiet in his den, clearly he enjoys the warmth and comfort from having to suffer outside in the bitter cold with no hair. He loads in the bus and is silent and a good boy the whole ride. He’s really cold (duh) outside and wants back in his den.

He likes food, no surprise there. He met Francine yesterday when she arrived and he was happy and friendly. He’s a really nice boy. We are going to have them cut his nails way back when he eventually goes for neuter. He thankfully is HW negative. all things point to his hair loss from a severe skin infection that he was never treated for and therefore it just got out of hand.

All in all, he seems to be a sweet, thankful, and grateful boy, and that makes us pretty happy.

We were asked by the Flower Mound shelter if we could help with this boy, emaciated and has no hair. We are about to go down in temps tonight to approx 10 to 15 degrees, I can’t even imagine a dog like this out in that, We said we will take him and Ricky is on his way to retrieve him. The shelter so grateful saying he is a such a sweet boy.
