Kosse and Tater, two sweet Miniature Schnauzers, came to us under unfortunate circumstances, and from the beginning we knew they needed to stay together. Our last post about them was shared more than 1,500 times, bringing in several applications—including one from Annette Harrington and her husband, Scott Brown of San Marcos, TX. They’ve always loved adopting in pairs, and after losing their last two Schnauzers last year, their hearts were ready to welcome another duo.
When Annette and Scott arrived at the Sanctuary, Kosse and Tater seemed to sense that something wonderful was unfolding. They bounded into the lobby—Tater hopping straight into Scott’s lap while Kosse happily soaked up affection from both of them. It was the kind of joyful, immediate connection Miniature Schnauzers are so good at creating when they feel safe and understood.
The boys will now live in a dog‑loving over 55 community, and Annette told us she received ten excited texts from neighbors, family and friends asking whether they had met the pair yet. Kosse and Tater won’t just be joining a family—they’ll be embraced by an entire community eager to welcome them.
These two will continue their very loved life, now with a new family who already adores them.

I’m sorry but this one just makes me cry. We were asked by the family if we could help, it’s very clear from every single thing you look at just how much these dogs are cherished. Meticulously groomed, neutered, trained, and provided for in every single way all dogs should be. I am devastated for them to have to make this choice and we are dedicated to make sure they will land in a home that will care for them as beautifully as this family had. I am sure you can all imagine how many tears were shed dropping them off, these boys have no understanding of what has just happened to them.
We will do everything in our power to keep these boys together, they are 4 years old and they know nothing but each other since they were tiny babies. It’s going to take a lot of shares from the village to find that perfect home but we feel hopeful we can do it.
