About Lenny:
Lenny was a very sweet boy whose owner had to surrender him due to very, very hard times. After an exam by Dr. D, a small lump was discovered and we sent him to a specialist. The lump was cancerous and on Lenny’s thyroid. After the successful surgery to remove the lump, Lenny began to experience breathing difficulties. He was diagnosed with having severe allergic bronchitis. They gave him injections for the inflammation and started him on liquid antibiotics and pain meds but he struggled to breath and was rushed to the animal ER and then transferred to Dr. Bronstadt at Animal Diagnostic Clinic. Lenny was in terrible shape, his lungs were full of inflammation and fluid and he was oxygen dependent. His biopsy came back showing he had a very aggressive thyroid cancer that had already invaded his vascular system.
Lenny was suffering terribly and there really was no light at the end of this tunnel and therefore I made the decision to let this little man go. Aileen and Francisco, his wonderful foster parents, stayed with him and cried so badly over this loss. He’s a foster for them but they loved him nonetheless. We notified his mom who had surrendered him to us so she would understand that we did everything we could for him but he really needed to rest now. She understood and was grateful for us trying to regain his health but it just wasn’t meant to be.
Lenny has crossed the bridge and is suffering no longer. We wished we could have done more but it just wasn’t to be and for that we are all just very sad.
