Latest Update:

Sometimes, all it takes is one perfect photo. Letty hadn’t received a single application—until her picture was posted on the LSDR & DRR Facebook page. That sweet little face? Tots adorbs. And just like that, the magic happened.
Two applications came in, both absolutely stellar. We knew Letty would be cherished in either home, which made the decision especially tough. In rescue, these moments are bittersweet—one heart soars, and another aches. When it’s that close, we lean on our experience, intuition, and what we know about the dog’s needs.
Steve and Emily Partin of Humble, TX, submitted one of those standout applications. Their vet references were glowing, their interview warm and thoughtful, and their home videos—especially the morning walk with their miniature schnauzers—showed a life full of love and routine. It was clear: Letty would thrive here.
Steve and Emily made the trip to pick up their girl, and Letty proved to be an excellent little traveler, chilling calmly on the five-hour ride home. We always remind adopters that our rescues aren’t potty trained, but every now and then, someone gets lucky. Letty—now Oakley Rose—has already mastered the doggy door and hasn’t had a single accident. She’s settling in beautifully with her two new sisters, even if they’re still adjusting to the energetic newcomer in their midst.
We couldn’t be happier for Oakley Rose and her new family. And we owe a heartfelt thank you to Trish in Oklahoma, who fostered Letty with such care and compassion. Fosters like Trish are the unsung heroes of rescue—giving dogs the time, love, and stability they need to shine when the right family comes along.
Now we wait (impatiently!) for more adorable updates on Happy Tails. Have the best life, Oakley Rose—you’re already so loved.

About Letty:

For those of you that follow our podcast, last week we spoke about strays that struggle with the “law” and at one point an owner can claim their dog, or dogs.

This is one of those cases, let me give you all of the facts.

These two dogs were found as strays here locally in Anna on 8/15 the finder posted them on all of the things, Ring, Nextdoor, local lost and found Facebook pages. After two days of no owner contacting her she asked if we would take them.

Which we did on 8/18.

On the same day the owner finally commented on one of the posts and said they were looking for them.

On 8/20 we took them to the local shelter to begin a legal stray hold.

On 8/20 the owners emailed us saying they saw our post about them and they want their dogs, we told them they were at the shelter where they could retrieve them.

The shelter began a 5 day stray hold where we would be contacted once that was up, if the owners didn’t come for them then we would claim them.

On Monday 8/25 the shelter informed us the owners never came.

On Tuesday 8/26 we retrieved both of them.

The dogs are now legally ours and if the owner sees this, they will not be returned.

The male is intact, he has an oozing mass on the back of his front leg and is Heartworm positive. They are both now sick from being in the shelter.

Emma drove both of them up to Oklahoma on Friday to be fostered by Trish and Dr. Roach now has them in isolation.

This story is just one of many that we have been dealing with on strays, owners and the legalities of the dogs. It’s frustrating and maddening and we try and focus on the dogs best interest. This story has been defined, cataloged, and processed completely.

Welcome to Dog Ranch Rescue, Dom and Letty, when your vetting is all finished we will seek new homes for you both.
