Jeff and Cary Cain of North Richland Hills, TX, first reached out about L’Oreal toward the end of last year, and from the very beginning we had a feeling they would be a wonderful match for our shy little girl. Their home is calm, their kids are older, and they already share life with Uno — a big black‑and‑white piebald Frenchie who might just be the sweetest, chilliest guy on the planet. Even with his gentle nature, we still wanted to schedule a meet & greet to make sure everyone felt comfortable.

Sometimes we’re able to do the meet & greet and the adoption all in one visit, so we asked if they’d be interested in that option. Cary’s response came through immediately: She was already at PetSmart picking up a smaller harness. That told us everything we needed to know — they were ready, their hearts were set, and L’Oreal had a family waiting.

The meet & greet went beautifully. Uno was his usual mellow, welcoming self, and L’Oreal — now La Madeline Louise, or “Maddie” — took her time but showed us all the signs that she felt safe with them. Our certainty doubled when Cary shared what happened on the drive home. Both dogs were buckled into their car seats, and at some point Maddie scooted herself over just enough to rest her head on Uno’s back. For a girl who has always been so reserved, it was the sweetest, most trusting gesture.

We’re so excited for Maddie’s new beginning and can’t wait to hear updates as she settles in, blossoms, and discovers what it feels like to be loved, understood, and completely at ease in her forever home.
