We love Christmas adoptions, this one is very special and Eva shares it with us.
I’ve been fostering Lou Lou Belle for about three weeks, I’ve gotten to know her and I’ve seen her transform from a scared little baby with a horrible painful skin infection, to a confident, healthy, sweet young dog. This dog loves life- cuddles on the couch, walks through the woods, and her favorite, playing outside with her friends at the sanctuary. Alfalfa is her best friend, all day long, they’re out in the yard jumping and playing and biting each other non stop. They’re two peas in a pod, little babies that came from horrible conditions, living, playing, and loving their new lives. Alfalfa came in so tiny and skinny, with an infected eye. He’s grown and changed along side his best friend, Lou Lou. To see them both go home to a wonderful house by a Florida beach, together, for the rest of their lives is like a miracle for us.
Albert and Mellisa Carter are previous adopters of staff favorite, big Duke. For those who have followed the page for a long time might remember big Duke was the Bordeaux that Ricky flew to rescue in Boston and drove him back to us.
Duke lived a beautiful life with the Carters, and he passed recently.
For Christmas, Albert and Mellisa have decided to drive all the way back to Florida, to surprise their two kids, with two baby bears- A perfect Christmas present, not just for their happy family, but for us as well. I’ve made sure that Lou Lou is sent off with her toys- Mr. Monkey, Mr. Moose, and the cow with no limbs, to accompany her and Alfalfa on the long drive home.
I love that dog so much, we love all our rescues here, but some dogs will stay with you forever. Alfalfa and Ms. Belle have such a bright future ahead of them. I trust they will live out the rest of their lives playing relentlessly during the day, and getting plenty of hugs and cuddles from their family all through the night. They’ll be home in time for Christmas, a Christmas that will set the tone for the rest of their lives together.
I couldn’t think of anything merrier than that. Look out for these two knuckle heads on Happy Tails, I know I sure will be
About Lou Lou Belle:
Just a baby and in this kind of horrible condition in the shelter.
She will be rescue # 2,675 for Dog Ranch Rescue on the birthday of the rescue. Ricky went and picked her up and took her to the ER to get her started on bloodwork and medications, they will take great care of her for a couple of days and then we will take over on her at the sanctuary. We think she is about 9 months old. Poor Baby!
