Latest Update:
Sometimes we need to be reminded there are more good people in this world than we think. Madeline’s story started out with a kind person who saw an ad on Craigslist for a Frenchie and did not want her to get into the wrong hands. She bought her and then contacted Dog Ranch Rescue about finding a home for her. Madeline will meet more good people today as she joins her forever family. Her sweet family wanted to adopt her early on before we knew much about any of the medical issues she came in with. Although Madeline does have vision loss she can see light and motion out of her R eye. Her hearing did improve as her ear infection started to clear up and she can hear voices and sounds the majority of the time, sometimes she just needs them to be a little louder. She doesn’t let either of these things phase her and she loves other dogs, loves people, and loves life.
Madeline is flying away to a wonderful life in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She will receive all the love and care she always deserved from her new family Julie and Erik Jablonski. Madeline will have two fur siblings to help her learn the path around her new home and snuggle up on the couch with. She joins a fur sister, Ivy (DRR alum Carrie) a Boston Terrier and fur brother Benny a pug. Madeline will be known as Maddie and Julie is already on Happy Tails so we will for sure see updates on this sweet family.
Happy life sweet girl!
About Madeline:
This is a rescue that’s out of the ordinary and we are still trying to make some sense of things.
This girl was being sold on Craigslist for a couple hundred bucks and a person bought her knowing she was just going to see if a rescue would take her from there. We were contacted and we said yes we can take her.
Here’s what her history and s reported to be, she has paperwork having her being sold 4 years ago as a puppy. She came from a breeder that I’ve looked at and all appearances have them as a reputable breeder. She was sold as a puppy for 5,000 and the family that sold her on Craigslist said they were moving to Korea and they already had to many animals.
The story seems odd to me, she does have a microchip and it is the same chip that’s on her paperwork as a pup and is registered to the people on her paperwork so it all appears to be that this was her family from the time she was a pup.
Here’s the other aspect that is puzzling, she doesn’t look like a 4 year old dog, she’s partially blind and does bump into things, she’s got limited hearing, she’s weak in the hind legs like an older dog will be and if we had to guess we would say she’s a senior but that doesn’t coincide with her paperwork.
One of our captains Danielle took her home on her arrival because she seems pretty fragile and worried so off she went right into a foster home.
We will have Dr Reno look at her as soon as we can get her in for exam and see what she thinks about her.

Welcome to Dog Ranch Rescue Madeline

UPDATE 6/25/2022

A little update about Madeline from her foster mom Danielle. Obviously she is a special needs Frenchie and will need an applicant that recognizes her limitations and will love her regardless.

Madeline had a little field trip last night to meet a few of my nieces and nephews. She did very well! They all fell in love with her and even got mad at me that I did not stand by her side the entire time she was navigating their house so she wouldn’t bump into things (I was watching for her not to bump into anything that would hurt her of course). She was cautious at their house moving at a slower rate. She moves around my house a little faster now especially the path she takes to go outside and to her food. With each ear flush she seems to hear more. Yesterday I had to yell for her to hear me call her name and today I just had to say it loudly. She is a love bug and someone is going to be very lucky to have her! I know I definitely got lucky with my first foster!

UPDATE 6/23/2022

I need to update a little bit of what we’ve learned about Madeline. She was sold on Craigslist listed as 4 years old. She’s got issues with her eyes and will be seeing the eye specialists soon. Dr Reno says she is blind in one eye and has some vision in the other. Unsure if this is a retina problem and we will see what the specialists think.
Her hearing seemed to be problematic, but Dr Reno said her ears were filled with debris so the process of cleaning them out continues. She’s with foster mom Danielle and she sent us this little update.
Not the best video but wanted to show how well Madeline is doing. I’ve been trying to get a video for the past two days, but you know how that goes- she either would stop playing or start scratching her ears as soon as I hit record. 😂 She is a hopper and tried to join in and play even if she can’t see exactly where my dogs are. She is doing really well on my carpet (the one good reason I still have it as I’ve been saving up to get rid of it!) with her back leg weakness. She learned our routine quickly and knows exactly where to go to get water and her food. She will be a great dog for someone who will help her get use to their home. She loves being near her person snuggling on the couch. Besides getting her use to the layout of my home to minimize her bumping into things she has been an easy addition. She is showing much more confidence than she did Saturday night when I first met her.
