Another Happy Tail for the Thompsons! 🐾
If “Oops, We Did It Again” had a dog-loving remix, it would be the theme song for Jake and Elena Thompson of The Colony, Texas. But let’s be clear—there’s nothing accidental about their devotion to rescue pups. With five DRR adoptions under their belt (most recently Rutger in September 2024 from foster mom Millie), the Thompsons have become part of our extended rescue family.
We always light up when Elena’s name pops into our inbox, and this time was no different. She came to meet sweet Marlow, but with a house full of furry personalities, a trial visit made more sense than a full pack field trip to the Village Sanctuary. It was Labor Day weekend, the house was buzzing with family, and the question was: would Marlow fit in?
The answer came quickly—and joyfully. Elena shared,
“She’s doing so good! She fit in so well with the giant pack of Frenchies, Bostons, and Boxer sister Sugar, along with all the humans. I think she’s going to be a wonderful addition to the family. She has the sweetest personality.”
With that glowing report, we’re thrilled to officially announce Marlow’s adoption!
With that glowing report, we’re thrilled to officially announce Marlow’s adoption! Her new name is Cookie.
For those inquiring minds (in order of adoption):
Sugar Smacks (kept name)
Bon Jovi now Biscuit
Pickles now Donut
Siobhan now Coco Snacks
Rutger now Poptart
and finally, Marlow now Cookie
Here’s to a life full of love and snack-themed sibling shenanigans. Welcome home, Marlow 💕

About Marlow:
She went to the vet with her family in Arkansas the vet told them that she seems to have a little scoliosis. (News flash) frenchies always have spines that look a little nuts on X-ray.
Owners got rattled and said put her to sleep 😳
The vet clinic reached out to us and she was surrendered and Terrie went to pick her up yesterday and brought her to the sanctuary. She’s 3 years old has no symptoms of any issues with her spine because once again X-rays looking odd on a Frenchie is pretty common.
She’s already been mainstreamed with other dogs and is a holy friendly girl. I’m telling ya people we can’t make this stuff up.
